FI's coworker is getting married, we were invited but were definitely on the B List. We definitely aren't going because we have no desire too--plus FI got a new job and will no longer be working with this person by the time the wedding comes around. The question is: Would you get them a gift?

Re: What would you do?
You don't sound like you like her. I think if you cannot attend, they say you're supposed to send a gift. But do what you feel. You should not be forced to get her a gift if you have no desire to.

I understand your predicament, and most likely you will never see these people again. Personally I would still send a gift. Even though you claim that you were on their 'B' list, they still invited you. Maybe you can buy something off of their registry? Just, my opinion.

Thanks. We were planning on getting them something off their registry--just wanted to see what other people would do.

I personally would also buy off their registry. You sounded like you didn't want to, I just didn't want you to think you were being forced.

They didn't really register for much-- so that is why I am stressing-- I feel stupid mailing them sheets or some spatulas.

You should send her a gift, it doesn't have to be money or even an expensive gift. But I would send something, maybe a vase or cake plate. I HATE when brides have B-lists and it is obvious to the guest that they are on it. But I would still honor the invitation in a spirit of friendship.

I wouldn't go but I would still send something small. But then again, I've had family tell me that they weren't coming to our wedding & we didn't get squat from them so........

Seriously if you are having a b list don't make it obvious, we got the invitation yesterday and the RSVP date is Monday.

Re: What would you do?
Sorry to be 'white trash' about this, but generally I don't send a gift if I've said no to a wedding -- the exception is if I'm very close to the person.
If you really feel honor-bound to get her something -- get her a modest-sized gift certificate at the store she registered at.
