what would you do?

what would you do?

OK, so I mentioned a while ago that I got an invitation to attend the wedding of a relative I'm not really close with. I told FH about this and how this person send a registry card in the invite... and how that was a bit rude! Well he told me that if I was going to the wedding to go and that if I really didn't care for this person, then he wasn't going with me! I could still go w/ my sis, but I want him to understand that it's not about the person, it's the premise...I have to represent b/c if I don't go, my sister won't go, and that won't look good for the bride! so ladies....what would you do?

either not or force fh to go.

I'm not sure I understand why you and your sister not attending wouldn't look good for the bride...

did you invite this couple to your wedding? From my perspective, if they aren't attending yours, you shouldn't be obligated to attend theirs....

sure, they're family.... but if they're not close enough to you to ever come to your place, I'd say 'to heck with it'!

It's a long story between bride, my sister and me....but the person is actually closer to us than what is implied.

oh..... when was this wedding, again? I vaguely recall it being close to yours.... like a couple weeks earlier?

I'll amend what I said.... I'd go, but only if it's not within 10 days of your wedding or HM. And I WOULD ask FH to come along. He should assume his escort duty, despite not thinking it's necessary... Boys frequently don't appreciate how delicate family relations are.... I'd gently nudge him to do the right thing.... and go with both him and your sister....

A registry card in the WEDDING invite??
Wow I think that's a bit tacky JMO.
If it's not someone you're close to then I would probably skip it and send a gift. If you really feel that you need to attend then I would tell FH that he had to go and to grin and bare it. If you go you'll probably have a good time anyway, think of it as a night out for the 2 of you. HTH

If you are worried about how it will 'look' if you dont attend then you might as well go, just I guess to save face. me personally if Im not close to them I wouldnt go regardless.

And its actually normal practice to put a registry card in your invites, especially if you are southern or didnt have shower-tho ettiquette says different

couldnt agree more on both parts.

also, maybe i missed the memo on registry cards and invites, but ive had several sent to me this way and never thought anything wrong with it or that it was tacky.
