What would you do?

SO I'm starting to rethink my date. I'm obsessed with my RH (fox hollow somerley room) for 3/14/14 but as we're coming on the year countdown I'm starting to hate the idea of getting married in March.
It's going to cost an extra $1900 total to move the date to the end of April (if that date is even still open) and we've already booked most of our major vendors; But I don't feel great in winter...I feel more bloated, super pale and winter blues. Now I'm watching the news and there is talk of a huge snow storm coming. I think I'd freak out if this was this time next year. No offense to anyone getting married in the winter, I just never pictured myself a 'winter' bride...I never feel my best in winter.

What would you ladies do?? Just leave well enough alone and hope for the best or contact all the vendors and change the date?

What would you do?

I think you should do whatever would make you feel more comfortable. I originally wanted May because I figured it would be decent weather but when looking for a reception hall they told us they all plant their flowers in May so they are not in full bloom until June. I know it may not be a big deal but I was thinking about pictures and how it would be nicer to see fully bloomed flowers so we switched our date to June. No matter what the weather is, you will have a great day! Good luck!

What would you do?

I think if you'd be happier with an April date then you should change it. I originally wanted a summer wedding but Fh is miserable when hes too hot so he suggested March. My allergies kill me around now plus the weather is too unpredictable so we are looking at October now. If you arent comfortable with March see if you can change it now before it's too late.

What would you do?

I originally wanted an April date but I feel the weather in both March and April isn't what it used to be so I wouldn't think moving it to April is going to be a huge difference. also April is a very rainy month and still has the possibility of snow. but remember 20% of guests don't come/show which is a little more $ in your pocket so if you think you realllly want a warm or hot day I'd look into early May or June and maybe your RH can work it out with you. have you thought about choosing a warmer date but a different day of the week to save the $? I'd have your RH give you a list of open dates in the months you are interested in with prices and then see what vendors can accommodate the change then look at money and make your decision.

What would you do?

If you really want to change it, then definitely call all your booked vendors first to make sure they're available on the date you want. But remember, it doesn't matter what time of year you get married - mother nature does not discriminate. Look at Sandy!

What would you do?

Yea you need to be happy, and I know it is hard to imagine your wedding in march next year especially when the weather is so bad this march =( I originally wanted to get married 4/26/14 and the fox hollow told me that they did not have that night available, maybe something has changed. If it helps three years ago a friend of mine got married in march and it was like 70 degrees. I originally wanted april and thought the same things, i will be fat because i hate working out or dieting in the winter, ill be pale, and all kinds of things (FH talked me into August by the way lol )but if you stay in march there are answers to all of these like going tanning and stuff. If you originally wanted March try to remember the reasons why you selected it and dont let the scary weather we are experiencing change your mind because we could be getting the same any time of year!!

What would you do?

I agree, first call your vendors and see if they're available, and how much they would charge to change the date. It may cost more than $1900 with vendor changing costs. Then decide whether this is worth it to you. I think you should follow your heart, as long as it doesn't break the bank. Good luck!!

What would you do?

I agree with all the ladies and would start by calling your other vendors. Would you be okay with not having the original photographer?

The other thing to keep in mind is that unpredictable weather could work in your favor too. I read somewhere that a January bride (either this January or last years) had 50 degree weather on her wedding day. Anything goes.

But bottom line, do what makes you happy!

Me personally, If I could switch all my other vendors I would do it. If I had to go out and find a new photographer, dj, etc. then I wouldnt.

This. I feel like so many vendors book soooo fast. If it makes you happy, then do it as long as you don't have to make drastic changes!

What would you do?

I would call to see of the date is available first. I know when I was looking into Fox Hollow Somerley room for May they only had a few dates. When I called to see about different prices for off season I was told they only had one day available on march otherwise they were completely booked for 2014.

What would you do?

I did exactly this- my original date was Jan. 2014 (I was almost one of you ladies!) FH got a new job and found out he could only carry over a week of vacation time per calendar year, so we switched to Dec. 2013. Switching the date at the venue was easy, they just crossed me off the old date and put me in the new one and adjusted the price on the contract (Dec. is more expensive than Jan.) The only other vendor I had booked at that point was my photographer, so I called them and made sure the date was available, which it was. It was a fairly simple process. You need to be comfortable with your date. If it's going to bother you for the next year I 100% think you should switch it. Good luck!!!

This was my point of view as well! I really wanted a fall wedding more than anything but we couldn't afford it. And I started to think that I could spend the money and stretch the budget but then what if I did all that and it rained or there was a hurricane or something. I felt it was more important to be comfortable financially.

That being said, if you have the financial means then you should move the date if thats what you want to do. I didn't have them so for me I didn't have the option. What date are you thinking? 4/26 is my birthday and it's usually gorgeous, last year the weather was amazing.
