I have 4 BM's, a Maid of Honor and a Matron of Honor. They all have the same BM dress, same color - burgundy strapless.
In order to make the two honorable maids stand out, I bought an extra yard of fabric so they can have a halter strap added to the dress.
Now it's a month before the wedding and the earliest they can get the girls in for an appt to add the strap at the place we bought them is Sept 15th (picking them up Sept 22nd - 4 days before the wedding.)
And OF COURSE this doesn't work for one of the girls. Her job is a PITA and she has minimal flexibility, lives in the city, etc. The bridal place only has limited after-hours appointments and I'm running out of time.
I don't want them to be done in different places because then I could end up with two different halters. I tried calling my bridal salon (for my gown) to see if they'd do it for them and they said no.
What would you do? Ditch the stupid halter all together? Try to find a different place in the city for them to get it done?
My head is all cloudy and everything is pushing me over the edge. Especially little stupid things like this... What's the easy answer here people?!?!

Re: what would you do? (a little long...)
How about ditching the idea of the halter and instead make their bouquets larger/more variety/etc.?
ETA: Since the reason is to have them stand out, I mean. Because that will help them stand out.

Can you do something else to the dress to make them stand out? Like maybe a brooch?

Re: what would you do? (a little long...)
try contacting a local seamstress... their hours are usually a bit more flexible. the place I go to to get my dance costumes and dresses altered is open on saturdays, and the woman used to make wedding dresses.
plus the smaller mom and pop shops are usually a little cheaper then bridal stores.

All of the BM dresses have a brooch and I'm having them take it off. I don't like it on the dress. so maybe I'll just ask the MOH's to add it to their bouquet?
I really DID like the halter idea until it became such an issue...

WHAT LENGTH IS THE DRESS?
I saw from your pix that they are long ... Tell your MOH's to go get them shortened to tea length to stand out. This way they dont have to do it at the same place. Anyone can take a hem up.
Thats what my MOH did.

just have them get the halter added on at different stores .... one of my BMs gained weight (she's pregnant) and had to get a corset added to her dress ... yeah it was different than the other girls, but nobody really noticed.
i think it'll be fine ... just do whatever will be easiest for your girls

Re: what would you do? (a little long...)
Thank you all SO MUCH for the feedback... I'm going to try calling around to some regular seamstress places to see if they can have it done. and I'm DEF putting the brooch idea into the ring!
I feel like I'm making something out of nothing (hello, 'picking your battles' thread), but it's crunch time and I feel like I'm on wedding crack haha... everything's a big deal even when it's not.

My MOH is getting nicer/bigger earring to wear day of, she's (hopefully going to find something to) wearing a facinator in her hair, and her flowers will be (a little) bigger/different.

Ditch it and get them different flowers than the rest. My bm's have all pink and then my moh's are pink and white and then I am all white. HTH

Hmmm it sounds like the halter idea might be a fiasco. Can you do something to make them stand out?

Totally ditch the halter and get a brooch or special piece of jewlery or headpiece.

Ditto. This is what I did. All of my girls had the same dress, and the same brooch. But my MOH's had red and white rose bo-k's while my BM's just had white.
