Your brother's gf wanted to wear a mainly white satin gown to your wedding with some color?...just curious what my other Brides thought since he text me saying the lady in the store told them they should ask the bride..at first I was like who cares but the more I think about it aren't you not supposed to wear any white at all???? TIA

Re: What would you do if..
I would prefer her not to, but thats just me. I know its silly and i am a very laid back bride, but i do feel the bride should be the only one in white. I would never even think of wearing white to someones wedding

I wouldn't want someone to wear a mainly white dress/gown to my wedding and I'm super laid back about this whole wedding thing.
I'm sure she can find a beautiful dress in a different color

My FMIL is trying on a black and 'ivory' dress. She showed some to me today, another one is 'ivory'
BUT, I she did ask me and what was I going to say? She is a sweet person.

I don't think it would bother me. It would bother me if my MOM wore white lol. Then again my dress is champagne/gold.

Re: What would you do if..
yeaaa. . . .i don't think soooo.
I went to a wedding where the Mother of the Groom wore Ivory. I'm still in awe when I see the pics. I feel like it was such a passive aggressive yet obvious move and slap in the face!
I have no idea what my FMIL is wearing, but if she shows up in something like that, it is totally obvious to the guests what a nasty move that is. and our limited contact will be noooo contact.

Absolutely not! The BRIDE wears white/ivory ... NO ONE ELSE! I felt like a b!tch wearing black and white to a wedding - but the bride was actually thrilled, because that was the theme she was originally shooting for.

I think the fact that your brother contacted you to get you opinion means he and his GF know it's somewhat inapropro (as my future step daughter would say!) Hopefully you told them how you honestly feel.
Good luck!

If it was me I would probably request that she choose a different dress, but ultimately there will be NO mistake that you are the bride and it is YOUR day. And if she's not willing to bend then let her wear it, don't let it get to you, and let your other guests thing 'wow, how tacky of her.'

Re: What would you do if..
I have to post ont his one...I wore a dress that was black on bottom and ivory on top to a wedding. I asked the bride, she was fine with it and in looking at the dress it clearly doesnt take away from the bride at all. Everyone will know who the bride is that day. I'm not a fan of wearing an ALL white or ALL ivory dress but I also didnt care when women wore dresses that had white and ivory in their dresses at my wedding

That second dress wouldn't really bother me. I was at a wedding were on of the brides close friends were a white strapless t length dress. The bride took someones cardigan and made her wear it all night buttoned up. The girl looked like an a*S*S*!!!

It wouldn't bother me. It is a white dress with color...so i'm assuming it has some sort of pattern on it. There will be no mistaking who the bride is! I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I wouldn't want someone to wear a mainly white dress to my wedding either. I would just tell your brother to tell her no. I'm surprised she would even ask that anyway lol
