What would you do in my shoes?

I would stop listening to his family and make the decision based only on what you and your FH want. You can't take every single person's thoughts into account when chosing a date. Don't push it back any further.

Honestly I think I would go elope! If you are going to be over 30 and want to start TTC, there is no way I would keep trying to satisfy each family member by putting the date later and later. I am sure not everyone was pleased with our date, but we didn't ask for opinions, we just did it.

What would I do if I was in your shoes? How about stop letting other people run your life?!

I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound harsh but I can't help but pick this up from your post. I sense that you have just bent over backwards to accomodate so many other people, causing problems and stress for you and FH, and not realizing that the only people you have to make happy on YOUR wedding day is YOU and your FUTURE HUSBAND.

Honey, you need to stand up for yourself and what the two of you want. I understand about the weddings being close, but 8 weeks is not THAT bad and I definitely don't think you should do it BEFORE the other couple for 2 reasons: 1 - you run the risk of having issues with the church again and 2 - I think that could be construed by the other couple as 'thunder stealing' even though you were engaged first. That said, I STILL think even THAT would be okay to do if it is what YOU and FH want.

STOP putting your happiness on hold in order to please other people!!!! PLEASE!!!! Do want is going to make the BOTH of you happy.

Good luck!

You need to keep your date. People sometimes expect others to jump through hoops and its not fair.
Get maried on your terms- in my experience thus far someone always has something to say no matter what.

JMHO

Good luck

Ditto. You need to take control of your wedding and your life. Good luck!

Don't change the date!!!!!

If you do that, you are setting the barometer for how far they can go to influence your life decisions. Next thing you know, they will be telling you when it is convenient for them to have a baby come into the picture.

If you do this in a firm but kind way (don't get nasty!) they will have no choice but to acknowledge your strength of character and go with your flow.

Show some strength! Good luck.

You should keep the date. This is your and FI's decision -- no one else's. If you don't put your foot down now, they are going to expect you to accomodate them all the time.

I completely agree!! This is your wedding.

Don't change your date again! All this uncertainty will make you stressed and crazy. The wedding is about you and your FH, no one else. His family is just going to have to decide for themselves whether they want to go to both weddings or not (and I'm sure they will go to both).

Wow. The Priest sounds like a real stickler. Can't change the date, can't walk down the aisle alone, etc. Is there any way you can go to another church?

Anyway, if you and FH start off your marriage bending over for everyone else, then that will be the tone you set for the entire marriage.
I wouldn't change the date at this point just on principle. And, 2 1/2 years is a long time for an engagement - plenty of time for people to plan.

Brides have enough stress in their lives - you don't need more!

DO NOT CHANGE THE DATE!!!

You need to stop letting people dictate your life. This is your wedding, so you need to make the plans that accommodate yours and FH schedule. Yes, it would be nice to have your families there to witness your happiness, but if they can not make it oh well. You are going to marry your prince charming with or without them. Your only and main obligation is to yourself and FH. Get control of your life now or it will never end.

There is no way you can make everyone happy.....do what you and your finace want to do - not waht other people want you to do!

It's your Wedding! No matter what, someone is going to have some sort of problem. Do what you want.
