My RSVP date is tomorrow and we are still missing 42 cards. Do I call each one of them next week and say 'hello, are you coming or not? FMIL wants to call her side, but I think we should call not her because it is our wedding right? Or do I give people more time?

Re: What would you do regarding RSVP's
I gave each of the families a list of who hasn't responded yet and said let me know by the end of the week. FH and I called each of our friends who didn't respond and asked them.
Good Luck

Re: What would you do regarding RSVP's
Recents posts have been up on this and my answer remains the same. Caterers rarely need more than 2-3 weeks to know final head count but we as brides tend to ask for answers/RSVPs much earlier. I certainly get it and will likely be similar. This is particularly true if you are doing anything customized like placecards. But realize: 1. Many guests do not actually send it out til the reply due date - so give it at least a week after then before doing anything. 2. Assign a member of the BP who has not had too much to do the list and have them make one call (no VM, no left number, no phone tag) saying this 'Hello, I am calling about the Johnson/Ward wedding and we need to provide the caterer with the final head count; if you will be able to attend, and we certainly hope you can, please call the following number to inform us by (48 hours from now) -- if we do not hear from you, we will assume with regret that you will not be able to attend. Thanks for your help in getting everything done.

Re: What would you do regarding RSVP's
We gave my husband's list of people to his parents and they contacted everyone on their side, and did the same for my family. I didn't feel like having to call people up and bug them..I had other things to worry about!

I think Deb's advice is pretty darn good. And diplomatic which is great. Not offensive in any way and will give those on the receiving end a swift kick in the a$$ to respond!

give it a week, see how many more come in, a bunch come late...ALWAYS. Then depending on who they are call....like family. Otherwise it's up to you to count them out or in of the final headcount.

Re: What would you do regarding RSVP's
We were missing A LOT when our date was up and we gave the different parents the lists of their guests who had not responded to call - the few of our friends who didn't respond - we contacted. I would not wait too long because you have to realize that not everyone is going to be reached from that first phone call - there are going to have to be messages left and you may still have to chase some people down for a response.
