My grandmother keeps pushing me to seat my Aunt and Uncle (my dads' sister and grandmas' daughter) with all of her daughters (my first cousins) and their babies. Now...to let you all know, this family is very isolated from us as it is (we only see them when someone dies, gets married or has a baby) and they live in the same development as Grams and Dad!! Why should I have a table of hermits isolated from the wedding???
I thought Aunt and uncle should be at the parents table with my father since they are family and the cousins should sit with other people their own age! Now let me say, that at 2 of their daughters' weddings, my sister and I were NOT seated with my parents-they sat at my aunt and Uncles' table while we sat with friends and/or BP members, and other cousins!!!

I agree with you. I think everyone would enjoy themselves more if they sat with their peers.

i think traditionally it's parents and siblings of parents (starting with the oldest) at the head tables...and then the extended members follow down the line to the next tables moving further and further away from the bride and groom....

Re: What would you do?? (seating pblm-LONG)
There are 2 main reasons why I don't want to put my aunt with her daughters (all of which are GROWN UP) #1: it would mean giving in to what GRANDMA wants...and she's probably getting a whisper in her ear from my aunt #2: I don't want to isolate that family at my wedding
They didn't do it for my family at their weddings...why should I do it for them?
GRRR...I knew this would be the hard part

Seat your cousins with people their own age, thats probably what they would want anyway

Kel...
For the last 10 years, My dad and all of us, grandma, and this aunt/uncle/and 5 cousins, have lived in the same DEVELOPMENT! a long walk or bike ride away! You know when we see them? At a wedding, funeral or baptism!! Not even for holidays anymore....we drop off gifts at the front doors! We mail checks for b-days. They live in this bubble of a world like we don't exist....we only hear of family news through what grandma tells us! So, by seating them at their own table, they are thus isolating themselves by sitting together, they don't have to interact with anyone else and that annoys me. My cousins are nice girls.....it's my aunt's fault for isolating us from them.

Ohhhhhh...I get it now! Hmm... Okay...I would suggest just sticking to the tradition of aunts/uncles at one table and then go on to cousins...That's how I plan to do it...You're not going to please everyone!

CIMINOK is right - you can't please everyone. I think you should seat your aunt and uncle with your dad, like you said, and your cousins with other people their age.

I agree with Jax... people like being with people their own age.
