Okay, we booked our hall- but now I am thinking maybe we should try to save a little $$.
The viennese table is $12.50 pp, the seafood raw bar is $25pp.
Should I keep both, neither, or pick one or the other?
Thanks in advance
**UPDATE** so we decided to get rid of the viennese (sorry girlies, but our reception ends at 5- i think it is too much at that point and i would be very upset if i paid for it and it was wasted)and we are doing a clam bar and passed shrimp cocktail in lieu of the full seafood bar- brought our cost downby more than $4K!!!
Thanks for all the help girls- it is so appreciated

Re: What would you do...
I would probably pick one of the two if you want to save money. I'm assuming the seafood raw bar would be during cocktail hour - that would be my pick! I always remember cocktail hours because they're my favorite part of a wedding, so that's what I would go with!

If you are looking to save money, I would probably get rid of both. Of the two, if I were to keep one, I would keep the vienese table.

If you want to save money, I would get rid of both. If you want to keep one, I would keep the seafood bar... In my experience by the time Vienesse Hour rolls around, people are so full they load up their plates with dessert but hardly eat it. CH everyone is hungry. JMO.

I would say KEEP the seafood bar. It's going to get more 'use' b/c it's at the begining of the night. The viennese table (tho YUMMY) is at the end and I have beent o weddings with it that many people didn't take much b/c they were stuffed from all the food at the CH, dinner and wedding cake. I know keeping the seafood doesn't save as much money, but I think you'll get more 'use'.

Re: What would you do...
I would go for the Viennese table, how many of your guest eat seafood? I know a lot of my guest that don't eat seafood, and I don't want to waist money on something that I can put towards something else.

Re: What would you do...
I'd take them both out.
The seafood bar because I would want people to eat the dinner that I am already paying for and the vienese hour because you are already serving dessert to them - the cake. The thought of all those wasted desserts (b/c only a piece or two is taken out of them) makes me ill.
Besides - less money per plate is always a good thing!

Re: What would you do...
I think that's basically it...you have to think of your guests and try to figure out what you will get the most use out of
are they fish people? are they diabetics? dieters? complete vegans...
IMO, anything is a waste of money if you are being charged for 200 people and only 100 actually bother to enjoy it.

IMO I would keep the Viennese. I Love the Viennese. I'm having some fish station at my cocktail hr but that's because my BM threw it in. I had to have Viennese.

Re: What would you do...
IF you dont like fish then dont do fish. But IMO Viennese tables/hours/whatever you call them to me just take time away from a party and clear off a dance floor faster than lightning. I don't like them. I much prefer rolling dessert carts that come to the tables or a predetermined plate of petit fours which are nice when you are looking to save money. Id rather spend the money on an extra member of my band or more pages in my album or nicer flowers. But thats just me.

I'm not a seafood person either.. so my choice would be to ditch that extra and keep the desserts coming!!!!!

Re: What would you do...
i would keep the vienese hour... make people leave your party with a bang...it leaves a good impression. The seafood bar is good but some people wont even appreciate all the fish and you can still incorporate fish into the cocktail hour without having it cost $25 per person. I luv both desert and seafood but i would definitely miss the desert more.

Sometimes the viennese table gets more time put onto the wedding - so I say go with that. Bigger bang for your buck!!

I agree...there are so many other things at your cocktail hour that you could cut out the seafood bar...BUT the Vienesse hour I think you should keep
