I have people at work asking me what i want them to buy me for a shower gift? what ! i feel strange when they do this, i finally just replied to look at my registry. one girl even went as far as to tell me she was giving me money because she dont shop. how would you reply to these people?

I would give them your registry information. They can at least get an idea of what you want and if they prefer to get you something not from your registry, they will have an idea of your tastes and styles.
Just tell them 'I am registered at XYZ and you can view my registry online. I am sure that whatever you decide on will be perfect'.
As for the person who doesn't shop and wants to give you money - why not - you can use the money to get something you wanted.
Or you can suggest that they get you a gift certificate to the store you are registered at.

I'd be very tongue-in-cheek with them and ask them which type of thank you card design they'd like to receive for their gift. and to the girl who said she doesn't shop, i'd say, well that's ok because i don't write thank you cards anymore, so expect an e-card instead.

i was just floored by this, i would never ask any of them or anyone period that ? or make the money statement, and i know my bp sent out those registry cards w/ the invites.
