This is what we are giving FFIL as a thank you at the rehearsal dinner:

We didn’t know what to get the man who has everything
We couldn’t think of anything you wouldn’t toss aside
So we decided to get you a little gift
That will arrive Mid January 2005

How about something like....

There are lots of thing that we know we could buy,
But a homemade gift we thought we would try.
Although it might take a while to arrive,
It will be here to hold in January 2005.

what about something like 'for the guy who has everything and has given so much...' something positive rather than negative. my dad is impossible to shop for, and consequently often doesn't get gifts. although it's a joke in our family i wouldn't jest in a card - i think he would get pissed and view it as bad form.
