What's a good price range for blocked hotel rooms?

I don't want to block someplace people can;t afford, but I don't want to put people in a shack either.

Any thoughts on an ideal price range?

Should I offer 2 hotels, a cheaper one and a more expensive one?

Ours are $119/night...in march which is off season....Huntington Hilton.

ETA, we didn't offer a second one b/c we felt that was a good price and we want evreyone in the same place b/c we'll be at the bar afterwards and are having a brunch on Sunday.

we were going to just offer our guests a few options....but, if we want to do vans/shuttles, we can't have 3 different shuttles go to 3 different hotels.

i think your best bet is to find one at a resonable price and block those rooms.

I would say blocking two hotels is a good idea if you think your guests would appreciate it. Ours ended up being expensive because we got married out in the North Fork, and there's not that many hotels out there. We got $189 for the Best Western in Riverhead and $169 for the Hampton Inn in Farmingville. This was in May.

We got 139/night at the Plainview Marriott Residence in Plainview (duh)... it's a great hotel! (with restaurant for rehearsal dinner and bar for after wedding).

If you have a lot of oot guests and are not doing shuttles, I say give two options. Just make sure the cheaper of the two is still nice and clean.

We just did one because we don't have that many oot guests - $139/night was the most reasonable we could find in June!

I was thinking of doing a shuttle and maybe a morning brunch..so one would be ideal. I just don't want to force people to spend a lot. The last wedding I went to the blocked hotel was something like $170 a night and we had to stay 2 nights and I was like

maybe I'm just cheap!

The Holiday Inn in Westbury is blocking rooms for $149 per night. My wedding falls the weekend of the Belmont Races. Every other hotel is sold out.

We thought about blocking rooms in more than once place, but the same issues the other ladies mention came up, with the shuttles and with the cost, your best bet is to find one that is reasonable, we are paying $129 at the Wingate in Garden City and it includes continetal breakfast each morning.

I got quoted $129 from 2 hotels, $149 from 3 hotels, $139 from one hotel, and $109. The funny part is that the $109 is from the Hampton Inn, and so is one of the $149 quotes - just different locations, and the two Marriotts I called gave me $129 and $139.

Location is everything (in addition to the time of year).

One of the things I did to make sure I was getting a deal was check the hotel's website and use my date to see what full price was before I asked about discounts for blocks.
