What's a good price range for blocked hotel rooms?

Original post by marymoon

I don't want to block someplace people can;t afford, but I don't want to put people in a shack either.

Any thoughts on an ideal price range?

Should I offer 2 hotels, a cheaper one and a more expensive one?

We got $149/night at Holiday Inn Express in Hauppauge and this comes with a full breakfast of all you can eat for guests and transportation to and from the hotel to the reception hall. Wedding is in September.

They give a discount for the bride & groom for the wedding suite as well based on the number of rooms your guests reserved.

We booked the Sheraton Four Points Inn in Plainview for $139 which was the cheapest and more importantly the nicest we found for May.
