what's a grooms cake?

what's a grooms cake?

sounds silly but i've never seen one at a wedding. what is it for and when does it get eaten?

are you having one?

its a cake for the groom and the cake should represent something he likes, fh is a big giants fan so i will probably do a giants cake theme and will give it to him at the rehersal dinner.

I am having one made as a suprise fro FH in the shape of the Yankee logo.

It's a Southern tradition. Even though I'm not from the south I think it's a cute idea.

I will not be having a rehearsal dinner so I will present it at the wedding.

You can have the cake at either event. Southerner's tend to have it at the wedding on a table adjacent to the wedding cake (which is what I plan to do). I figure why not have it at the party, right?

I had one at the rd.

it was a big hit!!!

i wanted to make a cake that was something that dh was interested in- so why not poker.

i had a 7 2 of hearts made, which is our wedding date and also the 'worst' starting hand in texas hold em poker.. so i HAD to have that!

i want to have one too i think. if i call my FH jimi-bear, do you think i can get a cake of a bear? or does it have to be something that HE likes???

I'm getting one for FH, But I will be doing it at the rehearsal dinner. He has NO idea.

It's a cake for your FH that symbolizes something that he loves. I'm not doing one but if I were I would have the cake made out ofa pair of retro Jordans (b/c Tejan loves Jordans) or a fitted hat preferably Yankee (he loves fitted hats as well)

I will definitly be doing one in the shape of a mets logo and serving it at the rehersal dinner...it should be cute!
