DH and I have been having endless convos about this. We cant really decide if we should wait to have a kid after we buy an apt or vice versa. We have been weighing all the costs and benefits but we dont feel like we know enough about it. We dont want to wait too long to have kids but we havent even started looking for a place yet.
Does it really even matter which comes first? Those who have done it already or are planning to, do you have any wisdom?

I want us to get a place first. We live with FIL so we have very little privacy and that will end the minute we have kids.

i think it's really your personal preference. our first step after marriage was buying a house (we already lived together in an apt). but we both did not want to bring home a baby into our apt cause we want to be settled and have all the space we need.

there's no 'right' order .... honestly, they're both big expenses and you will never feel financially ready for either one until it happens.

we already have a co-op and plan on upgrading to a house before we have kids, but thats just us.

We plan on owning something, either a house or apartment, before we start having kids. We both believe it offers us more stability.

We already have our house, but if it were us I'd want to wait and find a place first, that way its less stuff to move lol.

Kids then house. I don't want to wait to have kids and we have a good 4-5 years of saving ahead of us before we can afford a home.

FH owns his co-op (well, our co-op come November), so for us, it's kids first given FH's advanced age (I like to tease him cus he's older).

We'd like to get a house first, but if I were to get prego, it'd be just fine. We even had a scare before the wedding and DH was ready for it!

Babies and houses are expensive... we knew we wanted to get settled into a house first before having kids. And then once we have everything down figure out how to add the expense of a kid or two in,.. especially since I most likely won;t be working once we have kids.
