But then again, if my mother is correct, the place I'm going to after this is not a good place at all!

Where do you go according to your mother??

I was weird growing up and never really thought I would live after my 17th birthday. I don't know why and have no reason to think that I would just die sometime during my 17th year. Since I didn't I don't know what to think.

I have seen so many people die - long painful drawn out illnesses, short quick deaths and everything in between. My granfather died the best way (IMO) - in his sleep, in no pain at 99 years old. But I don't want to live that long.

I think when we die we are done, kaput, dust. I think we 'live' on in the people we leave behind, in their memories, in their thoughts, in how we influenced them and gave of ourselves to the world.

I was raised Catholic, and I still am Catholic, but I do not believe we go to heaven. Maybe that makes me not Catholic after all.

those same words could have easily been from DH's mouth...he always does the hang loose sign when we pass a cross or memorial on theside of the road...saying that he is remembering them so they can live in his memory for another moment
