What's so great about Kleinfeld's?

What's so great about Kleinfeld's?

I'm not trying to offend anyone, sorry if I do. My MoH got her dress from Kleinfeld's and it was absolutely beautiful and she got a killer deal on an Alita Graham. Having said that, I went to their sample sale today and was not impressed at all. The woman was rude, there was very little selection, she kept pulling things out of my price range and it was very crowded. Yes, I know it was a sample sale so it was probably crazier than usual. However, there was no reason for the attitude this woman gave me. I must have asked her five different times who made a particular dress. She actually rolled her eyes and said 'It's a sample, what difference does it make?' Umm, I don't care if it's a sample, if I am spending thousands of dollars on anything, I want to know what I am buying!

We went to Lovely Bridal after, which was the complete opposite. Very quiet and private. The girl was very nice and helpful. She actually picked out the dress I think might be 'the one' and it is BELOW my budget, what a refreshing change!

The people at Kleinfeld were obnoxious when they were based in Brooklyn. Since the move to Manhattan, they're gotten even worse.

I will never understand why people want to go there. Unless you want a Pnina gown, anything they carry can be found elsewhere. I really dislike the tactics they use to try to get brides to make a purchase on the spot.

As for the consultant pulling gowns above your budget, I'm not remotely surprised. They do it all the time and it happens at least once on every episode of SYTTD.

The only reason I thought they might have been more understanding about the budget was because it was a sample sale, but no such luck!

I really had the greatest experience here. They were super nice and not pushy at all. I feel like the fact that you went to a sample sale might be the reason that you didn't get tons of attention from them. however, if the woman was rude that is not called for sample sale or not.

For me. Kleinfeld's was the right fit. I felt comfortable there, they had tons of things for me to try on and I felt like I was getting a great once in a lifetime experience. They kept to my price range and even gave me a little discount as I was buying it without me asking once they heard I was a teacher. I am so glad it's where I brought my dress. And IMO they have the best seamstresses. They fit the gown to you perfectly!

I think it is hit or miss there. I had a bad experience there with my friends wedding so I decided not to look their for mine.
But some girls love them. They supposedly have an amazing alterations department.

I went a few months ago just to try things on and get an idea of what I liked. I worked with Keasha & she was absolutely wonderful. It really depends on who you get as a consultant b/c I've heard about ppl who didn't have the best experience there too.

I was scared to go because so many people say they are mean or too expensive, but after going to like 10 stores, I figured I might as well since I still hadn't found what I wanted. They were super nice when I went, and they only pulled one dress out of my price range, but it was by like $300 and it was the one I ended up getting. I definitely recommend it, they really have a huge selection.

A friend of a friend got the same dress as me for a LOT more than I paid(at Paradise) at Kleinfelds. I agree, unless you want a Pnina, you could prob save money going somewhere else.

That being said, I def understand going there just for the experience.

I was just at Kleinfelds on Friday afternoon and I didnt have the wonderful experience that I hear people have there. The place is huge and I thought I would be able to try on tons of gowns but when I got there the first thing they told me was 'we know the sample size 10's won't fit you (I'm a size 12) so we are going to pull the larger sizes for you because you definitely wont fit into the 10's' ... It was a total blow to my self esteem because Im a curvy girl and I didn't need another reminder that I wouldn't fit into the size 10's. I let it go and went on with my appointment because I'm sure they tried to save me from not being able to squeeze into their samples but after she pulled 4 gowns my consultant told me 'I don't think we have the kind of dress you are looking for' meanwhile I wasn't asking for anything crazy or out of the ordinary. I started crying because I was so mad, stressed and overwhelmed and I didnt feel beautiful there. I couldnt understand that in that entire store why they would only bring me 4 gowns :( I won't be going back there. After they saw me crying I had 2 managers come and check on me, even the seamstress stopped in to give me advice on a particular dress. They tried to tell me I'm beautiful and I shouldn't be crying but I was so mad that they only pulled 4 gowns out of the entire place. The only positive thing from that experience was that I found a gorgeous gown that has made it to my maybe list.

That sucks! First of all, size 12 is not big AT ALL. Second, what is the point of being the biggest bridal salon in the world if you are only going to pull 4 gowns? All 5,000+ gowns are either a size 10 or a size 20?

Thats exactly what I was saying to myself as I was leaving!! They pulled 4 gowns in sizes 22 thru 26 for me. After I tried on 2 gowns they told me they didn't have any size 16's or 18's for me to try on.. I honestly felt like they didn't really try to find me a dress. I cried the last 45 minutes of my appointment and I cried the whole way home. So moral of the story, in my opinion there was nothing special about kleinfelds...i had a way better experience at bridal reflections (carle place and Massapequa)

OMG that is so disgusting and unacceptable!!!! A size 12 is unheard of to them??? I better not go in there for at least 40 lbs then!! lol

That is so horrible that something so great turned into such a sh*tty day- I too have heard horrible things about Kleinfeld. I think that the only reason they are as big as they are is bc of the tv show, which doesn't make them look any better IMO. Good luck on your search and I hope you have a better experience!!

Only went there because of PNINA dresses....otherwise I would have never went! I did have a good experience though. I think it depends on what consultant you get.

Lots of people like to go there for the experience of it. I know had a bunch of people telling me (even after I got my dress) 'You should just make an appt. and go just to say you went'. I honestly didn't have any desire to go, as much as I LOVE Say Yes to the Dress! lol. I don't feel like I missed anything.

And as far as reviews (from what I've heard over the years on this site) there are very mixed experiences.

I feel that people either have an amazing experience there or an awful one. I personally feel that it was the best fit for me, and yes I did go to other bridal salons. But I also think that Kleinfelds is the type of place that you need to go to with a game plan, know the dresses you want to try on and a firm budget to tell them.

I've had only the best service dealing with them, and bought my dress there.

Maybe the service is different at a sample sale?

I also think people love them for their selection, which is the largest!

Re: What's so great about Kleinfeld's?

I didn't have a good experience there at all.... my bridal attendant was not very nice and seemed bothered when I expected her to HELP me find a dress. She actually, with an attitude, asked me if I wanted her to 'shop' for me?!! They already set a time limit for my appointment, I had written down about 9 or 10 style numbers and she immediately looked at the numbers and said NOPE too many, only 4 or 5.

I ended up getting my dress there only because it was an exclusive of theirs and it was a dress I found on their website, she was no help at all AND it killed me a little bit that this woman got a commission off of my dress.

Hoping when it's time for getting fitted things go better.

Kleinfelds was the first and only place I went to look and I had the most amazing experience. I guess it really just depends on who you get as a consultant- but that is anywhere you go. Everyone has different personalities and sometimes they may clash but no matter what dress shopping should still be a positive experience. I am sorry you have a poor opinion of them but I absolutely love Kleinfelds and have had nothing but great things to say about how I was treated. HTH

ITA. The way they are on that show, while entertaining from the comfort of my couch, is absolutely disgusting. They scoff at people's budgets (the lowest of the low were still higher than my budget), they make nasty remarks about the clients behind the scenes, and they seem to be in such heated compeition with each other. It's ridiculous. I had absolutely NO desire to go there and didn't. Didn't miss a thing!
