What’s the absolute best place to go for bridesmaid dresses?

I don’t really have a designer or anything in mind yet, I just would like to go start seeing some dresses. We just realized that my sister the MOH is going back to college REAL soon, so we have to get going!

i know i wanted to know the same thing..

well, like I said, I just ordered my dress from Burtons. They had a lot to choose from and BM's get 15-20% off when the bride buys from there

I don't have a real answer for you, but I did want to point out that some places give you a percentage off BM dresses if you purchase your gown there - just something to think about.

Have you started dress shopping yet? I love the pics in your album.

The Wedding Center gets a lot of bad press on here... but they have a large selection of dresses from what i've been told, so you can go there to look and the purchase them from somewhere else.
Phyliss at Bridal Elegance in Dix Hills can get almost anything and at a great price.

It's actually a lot of fun, I wasn't all pumped up about it till I actually got there and started trying things on!

I'd highly recommend using Macy's but only to try stuff on.

Here's the reason...

I went to SO MANY dress shops, and so many of them had samples that were really beat up. I would see dresses that just looked horrible. Then I went to Macy's at Smithhaven and those same dresses turned out to be GORGEOUS. It's just that at Macy's the dresses are kept in a great condition because the volume of girls going there is much less. I don't think your dress selection is going to be humongous there, but they do have Dessy, Bill Levkoff, and all the other big names. I found the dress I'm going to get there, but I'm not going to buy it from Macy's - I'm probably going to get it from Phyllis at Bridal Elegance who quoted me $50 less.

Also, though, if you did want to buy from Macy's, they will price match any other store. They agreed to price match Bridal Elegance, but then they'd require my girls to pay 100% up front and I didn't like that.

Adrienne's in Islip - they have a BM dress cottage, a big selection - PLUS they'll tell you the designer, design number, and price.

Then you can call Bridal Elegance or Burtons or whomever and get comparison quotes.

But I recommend Adrienne's just to try on/find a BM dress. They're pricey and you'll find much better quotes elsewhere.

RK Bridal 39th Street in the city had the best selection, I found what I wanted then called Phyllis at Bridal Elegance to price it and she was 50% cheaper...

RK has an amazing selection! Their website is pretty thorough as well. You can always find a dress there and try it on..and then call up other vendors(such as Phyllis) and do some comparison shopping.

I'd also recommend going through the major department stores and their websites as well, ESPECIALLY when they have sales. Nordstrom.com has GREAT stuff..neiman marcus, bloomies, etc!
