I love Asics as well. I used to wear new balance and I went to a running store, put me on the machine to see what kind of arch I have and whatever and they recommended the asics

I've been trying to run too! So far I kinda suck but i'm getting better!

There are stores in the city that you run on a treadmill and based on the way you run and how ur foot lands and stuff.. they reccommend the best sneaker for your foot... i think the nike stores have them

I've had Brooks, liked them and wore them out. Really never wore them for working out, BUUUUT they didn't make my size 9 feet look like boats.

Currently, I wear Zoots, which triathletes wear. They're good for running, biking and you can go in the water with them on and they don't get all nasty. I ran in them this weekend, and I never run, and they were good.

Got them at Brickwells on Northern in Great Neck.

If you decide to get asics, i'll warn you...i wear a size 7 and they make my feet look HUGE.

i have wide feet and overpronate. so the new balance 8 series are my favorite. right now i'm running in the 859's.

I used to wear Asics Kayano but went to Jack Rabbits near Union Square and they helped me find a better shoe for me, Asics Nimbus.

JackRabbits on the UES and a running shop on 42nd street b/t 5th and 6th also has treadmills for you to try shoes out!

I have to agree with some of the other girls - go to a store where they will fit you to a shoe. I used to work at one in Buffalo. We looked at how you stand bare foot, your gait, if you pronate or supinate, width, etc.

paragon has treadmills too, but they aren't as nice there.

I use Asics gel also. But if you have shin splints (which I do) no shoe will help relieve the pain in your shins. You just have to run through it until it numbs out. AWFUL!

I have shins splints too. It's the worst! Haven't found a sneaker that makes it any better.

If you are the city, Jack Rabbit is really good. I think they are nice and they don't try to push anything on you. Once you purchase your first pair of sneakers there, you get 10% off all your future purchases. There's also Super Runner's, they have a few locations in Manhattan too. I also wear size 9 and have wide feet and yes the sneakers make them look big, but better than shin splints, plantar fascitis (so nervous that's gonna come back before November).
