I wear Asics gel. I like them b/c of the gel cushion..it makes it lighter on your feet when you land.

I use Asics gel also. But if you have shin splints (which I do) no shoe will help relieve the pain in your shins. You just have to run through it until it numbs out. AWFUL!

Sorry i just realized that sounded weird...like when your feet hit the ground when you're running. The impact.
My dad is a marathon runner and swears by asics.

haha yeah on the ground. I agree with asics, that's an all around safe bet. But also I think some shoes are better for some people than others. Some shoes are better for flat feet, feet with a high arch, and normal arch. Some stores that are specifically for running will look at your feet and recommend what shoe would be best for you.

these are the ones i have. i think they are the ugliest ones out there but they give me alot of support and cushion for impact.

You can go to Runner's Edge in farmingdale...they let you try on different kinds of sneakers and watch you jog back and forth on a mat. Do it!! They will find the best running shoe for you. Guess what they recommended for me?? Asics Gel!!

I love Brooks personally. I run in Brooks Adrenalines. You should find a running speciality store where they can look at your foot to evaluate the best kind for you. It really does make a difference.

seriously, go to Runners Edge in Farmingdale. they have you stand barefoot than bring out sneaks based on your foot shape and size and needs and blah blah blah. Than, after you buy those, put them, and run down the block to Croxleys, where I will meet you for a cocktail and some honey hot wings!!!

Definitely try a local running store...
Runner's Edge in Farmingdale, Runner's Stop in Lynbrook, 2nd Wind in Setauket will all take the time to help you find the shoe that's perfect for you.
They helped me find my marathon sneakers - I'm a Nike girl and I always HATED Nikes before... I was just buying the wrong ones for my foot. So sometimes it doesn't depend on the brand, and like someone else said, they could be super ugly, but they can work amazing for you.

lol!! i know whats wrong with my feet. (wayy too much) maybe i should just stop eating 10 pieces of chocoalte a day, stop hitting up the buffets 2x a week instead. i just want to be able to run more than 2 miles

i got bigg feet (size 9) so the bulky sneakers are gross. when i worked with reebok for their 'run easy' campaign they gave me sneakers and they look like fkn BOATS. havent touched them

FH swears by Asics as well. He ran track and still runs at the gym/outside. He use to always use Saucony but bought Asics recently and LOVES them. Try Runner's Edge, though. I go there every time i need new sneaks.

go to quantum feet on union tpike in fresh meadows right near 188. they are really nice and will recommend the best shoe for YOU.

you might also be buying them too small. i wear 8.5/9 regular shoes but always need to by 9.5 for running/gym sneakers. i know they look big but shin splints will make you think otherwise.

ITA with the girls suggesting that you go to a running store. They see how you step, where you put the most pressure etc. They also measured both of my feet to see if they were the same. I dunno, I was impressed by that - seems like they are really into it.
I think mine are brooks and they look pretty snazzy too. They are the most comfortable sneakers I've ever owned for running!
