What's the deal w/cake cutting and champagne flutes?
Do catering places provide or should you bring your own?
I just would rather not bring my own since so much stuff will be going on that day.
Is that wrong?

It is not wrong - but just make sure your hall supplies them

If your hall doesn't supple them you can probley drop them off in advance

Your hall will probably provide them but many people like to bring their own so they can keep them as a keepsake.
It's totally up to you though - it's not wrong if you don't want to bring your own. It's one less thing to worry about.
ETA: I dropped off all my stuff (Placecards, menus, toasting goblets, etc etc) about a week before so it's typically not something you have to worry about the day of. And the Maitre 'd was very good about packing up all our stuff to send back with us on the day of so you shouldn't have to worry about that either.

I'm not bringing my own, don't have any to bring (I didn't want to register for that stuff). whatever the hall provides will be fine for us.

I'm bringing my own, but purchased inexpensive ones, so if something should happen to them (i.e., they get lost or broken), it won't be a big deal.

I can't imagine a catering hall that doesn't have champagne flutes. I mean even if they are plain, doesn't every guest get one as soon as they walk to their place setting to join in the toast?

we got them as gifts. i think people wanted us to use them on our wedding day. we dropped them off at our hall the day before along with the favors. everything was boxed up nicely for us at the end of the night and a relative took everything home for us. nothing was missing.

We were given 'family' champagne flutes and I will use them because it will make my ILs happy. We don't have have a cake server though - and don't see the need to have it - si I am going to use whatever the hall has.

I used what the hall gave me on both accounts...ironically, though I never registered for ANY sort of cake-cutting device 'special' or otherwise...and what do I now need? A cake cutter! I like to bake now that I'm married!

I did onot register for a cake serving set but I received one at my bridal shower. I am not bringing it with mw to the wedding. While I am not in love with it, I know that it is useful so I will keep it. As for tosting flutes, we got the free set from crate and barrel when we registered so we will use those.

I personally love my flutes and cake cutting set. I plan on using them for anniversaries and just to display in my china cabinet. It's definitely just a matter of your personal preference - get them if you want them (many of them can be engraved) or use what the hall has.
