whats the deal with all the cancer lately?

I think that is just the reality of life nowadays How can it be prevented? Take good care of yourself, don't smoke and not sure what else - enjoy life to the fullest every day. There doesn't seem to always be a logical explanation.

I beleive in my heart that there is a cure for Cancer but research & what have you is making loads of $$$$$$$$$$$
My mother passed away at the very young age of 28 of Breast Cancer(I was 7 my sister was 6) (JMO)

I think it's partly hereditary, partly environment and partly lifestyle.

It seems we can't get anything right. For instance I am thinking about artificial sweetener - sacherine is ok, it's not ok. use nutrasweet. sacherine is ok again don't use nutrasweet, etc.

It's tragic and heartbreaking

Allure - I am very sorry about your mother

I'm so sorry to hear that allure
There are alarmingly high rates of cancer on LI and there MUST be a reason. I mean, you can see it in pockets. The block that JT's parents live on, someone in EVERY SINGLE HOUSE ON THE BLOCK has or had cancer. It's scary.

Re: whats the deal with all the cancer lately?

it's really hard to say what causes cancer - I don't know if it's as simple as saying there are noticeable patterns....that could be explained simply because of the high number affected compared to the probability of getting sick.

My father was diagnosed with Leukemia in 1995 and passed the following year....then my next door neighbor developed liver cancer, someone else down the block had brain cancer - I don't see a connection just because there are just SO many cases nowadays

I DO think there's a heredity+lifestyle factor - maybe there's something in your genes that gets triggered when you expose yourself to certain chemicals, smoke, etc.

Yep...cancer has hit my FH father too recently...and I have to say that I agree with Allure...I believe there is a cure, but with the money being made, they'll never do it.

Allure...sorry to hear that...

Jennbaby, no offence at all, but I have to believe you are 100% wrong that cancer is used to control the poplulation. The thought makes my stomach turn.

I am sure a lot of it has to do with money though. I can't believe there are cures for lots of illnesses but not this.

Re: whats the deal with all the cancer lately?

I lost my mom to colon cancer when she was only 49 and my best friend to breast cancer 5 years ago when she was 49. Weird coincidence isn't it?

Jenn I respectfully disagree with you. The government spends huge amounts of money every year on cancer research of all kinds. That is why so many people now have a fighting chance when they are diagnosed with cancer. 20 years ago when my mom died very little was known about colon cancer and how to fight it. Today that has changed and there are all sorts of drugs and treatments which enable people to survive and live long and happy lives. Same with breast cancer research.

I fervently hope that someday this disease will be completely eradicated from the face of the earth!!

Jenn - No one is debating. Just stating our opinions also.

Wendy - that's very odd. In fact my grandfather died in his early/mid 50's and so did my father.

Re: whats the deal with all the cancer lately?

I dont think that cnacer is used as a way to controll the population, however it is a conspriacy theory.

it personaly sickens me to think something like that

it is amazing the medical reaserch that has taken place in recent years. people who are diagnosed with cancer and nolong faced with a death sentance.
now we have a fighting chance

I guess when your times up... your times up
the lord needs you
