whats the difference?

whats the difference?

Ok, the first dress is by Alfred Angelo. This dress makes me look 3 sizes smaller than I am. I like the design of the gathering material in the middle. The straps are rhinestone, so they are pretty. (girl with flowers)

The second dress, is from a website to purchase the gown. I really like this dress, but like the back of the first one better. (purple background)

Here is my question.....what is the difference between the two that im preferring one over the other? They are basically the same dress.

Im hesitant of ordering the 2nd dress on line that i never tried on. Ive tried on the 1st and fits perfect.

Can anyone help? LOL

Re: whats the difference?

Do you like the strapless look or the neckline of the second one better?

I would NOT order a dress you haven't tried on! They look SO much different in person!

Re: whats the difference?

i like strapless but i was told i can make the Alfred Angelo without straps. Some people told me that the straps give a slimming effect so i dont look so broad.

i agree......is there a store that has a sample of dress #2?? if not id def keep looking or go w/ #1! Never order w/o trying it on even if it is VERY similar. I did that...had my heart set on a dress and when i tried it on i was so unhappy w/ it and started my search allll over!

Maggie Sottero also makes a dress like that.......I will see if I can find it. It was very flattering on!

Actually, the opposite is usually true. Straps often make you look broader than you are.

Try the dress on both ways and see which you like better.

Order the one you tried on because you know what you are getting and you already know you love it!

I think the one with the purple background has more gathering in the middle and a fuller skirt. These are two different dresses, correct? The beading looks different between the two dresses. THe necklines are different too. The skirt of the dress with the purple background is fuller.

Which do you like better?

Without seeing pics of them on you, I personally prefer the strapless dress (purple background). Maybe it's the lighting etc, but I like the beadwork better, LOVE the neckline - so elegant. The dress with the straps looks a bit more informal compared to the strapless dress.

Re: whats the difference?

do you think one of the crilion (sp?) skirts underneath will help it look more like the 2nd one?

The straps issue doesnt bother me to much. I can go either way with that. Maybe stapless and then get the rhinestone straps to put on later while dancing so im not picking up the dress the whole time LOL

Re: whats the difference?

Don't order a dress you've never tried on - the results could be disasterous. As for the differences in the two dresses . . . I'm partial to Alfred Angelo since he was the designer of my wedding dress - but I digress . . . the difference besides the straps

1. The neckline - the scoop vs. the modified sweetheart. Depending on your shoulders and neck, the difference could be significant in the overall look on you.

2. The beadwork - much more elaborate on the Alfred Angelo dress. Of special note - the beadwork on the neckline of the AA dress does a little something extra to enhance the curve of the neck vs. the other dress which IMO looks like they put beadwork on the neckline b/c they thought they should without a plan or design to it.

3. The train - the AA dress looks like it has a detachable train (or at least looks like it has a train) whereas the other dress doesn't look like it has much of a train.

4. The waist - IMO the waist on the second dress (purple background) looks like it is holding in the chest, whereas on the first dress it looks like it is enhancing the overall look of the dress.

HTH!!
