I have an irish family on my block like that. If a house goes up for sale, no joke, they BUY it. When we sell, we are NOT selling to them.

They do this in my parents area.
I remember growing up they built this house that was a 6 family house and they tried to buy it and the owners wouldn't sell to them so they burnt it down 3 times.
(my parents live in an area with alot of 'connections')

Holy crap!

I'm in Astoria, and it's a lot of everything. Greek, Middle Eastern, hispanic, a few blacks and Asians, and what I like to call 'young college graduates' - 20's, urban, looking for a cheap place to rent not too far from Manhattan. We were that when we first moved in 8 years ago, but now it's growing noticably.

We're still fairly new to the neighborhood, but for the most part, there seems to be mainly caucasians in the area.

Where I live in Bayside, there is a good number of Korean families. Caucasian would be runner up.

Moslty Italian but our new neighbors are korean and the others are Indian, so we are starting to get a mixed bunch. I think its great!

i think westbury's got a little of everything, which is Awesome, BUT i feel like its still somewhat broken up. Like my block is primarily caucasian (mostly italian, i think), a few blocks north is mostly Irish, east hispanic, east of that is black. so its very mixed, but still sectional i think

Majority Caucasian with a high percentage of that being italian

So wait a second no one thinks that burning a house down three times is scary.

Im surprised at how calmly people have taken it here.

And what if they still sold it to a minority? would those people be in danger of being burnt or hurt and ran out of town?

Geez so scary.

I would never live in a neighborhood that is primarily one race, be what ever race that may be. I just think its imporant to me and my FH that the neighborhood we live in accepts and lives among many races. Im not naive I know that there are alot of ignorant people out there who are racists. But I just couldn't live in a place thats so blatantly racist.

I need to teach that to my children I refuse to live in a community where racisim, segration and intimidation is accepted.

This world is so sad sometimes .

Anyway, let me stop before all hell breaks loose.

Bye ladies:)

PS. I live in a neighborhood where most homes are over $600,000 and where there are italians, irish, hispanics, armenians, russians, asians, middle eastern , indian well the list goes on. I love it!
