What's the norm?

What's the norm?

How do you all plan on getting to the ceremony location? Will the entire bridal party meet at a certain location and take limos from there? This is something I haven't figured out yet.

We don't live in NY but my FILs do. I don't know where me and my bms are supposed to get ready and all that. Any suggestions would be great.

Yup, usually meet in one place and then go together as a group...We all met at my mom's house (where I stayed the night before) and got ready and then took a limo to the church...

For another wedding I was in we all (incl. the bride) stayed at the same hotel the night before so we met in her room and helped her get ready and then drove to the reception in one car.

...all I know is that I highly reccomend having BMs there while you get ready (makes for good pics and lots of fun) and then go together (or at least at the same time if you want to ride w/ your parents) and I think its nice to provide some kind of transportation...the idea of all your BMs dressed up and driving their own cars just sounds hectic...

Well all of the BMs riding together will be a definite. All of my BMs are coming from out of town and are staying at the same hotel and won't have rental cars. So most likely we'll get a limo. I plan to stay with my girls :) the night before the wedding.

Am I NOT supposed to see the groom before the wedding? Isn't it bad luck or something? We were planning to do pics before the ceremony but won't that kind of ruin the 'bride and groom can't see each other before the wedding' theory?

The not seeing each other this is matter of coice...yeah traditionally it is bad luck and a lot of brides/grooms (me included) still prefer not to see each other so they get that first glace when walking down the isle but now that more couples are choosing to go to their cocktail hour (which also used to be unheard of) logisitcally its often a lot easier just to see each other and get the pics done with...just go with what feels right to you guys and you'll be all set

Oh and if you are all staying in the hotel and have no sentimental ties to your FILs house I'd think it would be easier just to get ready there...IMO of course

Re: What's the norm?

everyone met at my house with the photographer and two limos picked us up there (1 for me & my father and 1 for my girls).

We had one limo pick up the guys at the hotel.

Then limos were provided for our BP to get to the reception and DH & I took a rolls to Villa.

My girls are getting picked up by the party bus then it is picking the guys up and going to the church. My mom and I are taking an antique car to the church. We are all taking the bus for pictures though. I wanted a few minutes with my momma.
The girls are getting ready at my moms and the boys are getting ready at our apartment.

we're all staying at a hotel the night before and getting ready together -- then taking a limo to Crescent!

We're also doing our pictures before the ceremony

I got all the girls coming to my house, and the limo makes one trip with all the girls.

I remember years ago, I was in a bridal party in which the limo picked each girl up and took her to the brides house. Seems like a waste of endless hours to be paying for.

I am doing the same thing with the ushers, there all meeting up at FH house.

Me too. I got a suite for free and the girls are sleeping them then riding together to the wedding.

BM's are coming to my house to get ready and the guy's are going to FH's house to get ready. We are each leaving from our own houses.

Not 100% sure yet but since we are going to rent a party bus and most likely a rolls royce, I will probably go in the rolls royce with my parents and my bridal party can go in the party bus together.

I got ready at a hotel b/c my family is not from here, and many people stayed over at our hotel and we got a shuttle to bring them to the WM. We only had 2 people in our wedding party, tho.

Speaking of seeing the groom, I saw my husband before I even left the hotel...he dropped his car off and my photographer had me standing looking out the window and there he was outside in the parking lot! But, our wedding was great and so far, our marriage has been as well ..so don't stress that too much, just do whatever works for you guys.
