I'm more open to boys names, actually. Though for some reason I dislike the name Ralph. A lot. This stems from the Judy Blume book 'Forever' which I read when I was a pre-teen .. if anyone's read that book, I think you'll know what I mean re: Ralph

That is too funny!! To this day, every time I hear the name Ralph, I think of that book!!

LMAO! Me too! I must have read that book 300 times when I was 11. It was my first 'adult book.'

Ha! If I was a boy my father wanted to name me this! My mother wanted Westly. I think either way I was going to lose!

DISCLAIMER: Please do not be offended if your name is included, I just would not want these for my own children!

Girl: Murna, Hortense, Mina, Bertha, April, Amber (sorry to my niece, I just think of some 19 year old whore ), Jessica.

Boy: James (JT is one already), Bart, Michael, George (reminds me of some guy who pawed me in college), Leon, Leonard, Harvey.

There are a bunch of names I wouldn't use, mostly after past students I've had. The names conjure up memories.... I think most teachers feel this way!

Yes.. I know what you mean.. being a teacher elminates a lot of names.. but also gives you some names to think of in a positive way!

I cant STAND the southern Jerry Springer names like: Destiny, Misty, Chastity...If you are named after any of these you are destined to live in a trailer park and be pregnant at 16..

I dont think its very nice to name your son a girlish name...like Leslie or Lindsey

I agree with others about naming your kids old lady names like Ruby, Pearl, Gertrude, ect.

I dont like fad names like Kaitlyn, Tiffany, ect.

When I worked at the pediatricians office, there was a little girl named Spiderella!!! Poor child!

I would never name a child Maciej because it is FH's brother's name, his cousin's name and one of his father's middle names, the one he goes by. Three Maciej's in a family are enough. Oh yeah, it is FH's Confirmation name too.

I also won't name a child a name that is too difficult to spell or pronounce. FH's name is Krzysztof and it took me a few years of knowing him to be able to spell it and even longer to pronounce it.
