whats the point

i was watching all my DVR'd say yes to the dress Bridesmaids edition and this girl had Bridemaids and Honorary Bridesmaids.

i've never seen or heard of anyone doing this and just dont get it, seems like a GIANT slap in the face IMO.

I saw this episode and I was sooo turned off.

I could totally undertand if a friend decided that she was only having family in their party and that they either asked me to have some other role in the wedding (i.e., handing our programs, doing a reading, etc.) or no role at all. But there is no way that I would be ok with calling me an honorary bridesmaid and making be buy the dress and all.

So I've actually seen this done and I didn't get it.

A girl I went to school with had 2 of her roommates be BM's and the third was an 'honorary' BM. She helped do most of the planning and set-up and wore the dress but didn't stand up there with the Bride.

I'm guessing its because the bride wanted even numbers, but I felt bad, I don't care about symmetry that much.
