What's the point in hosting and inviting people to a party if....**UPDATED**

Original post by Misty

...you aren't going to provide anything?
I mean, it's fine if the theme of the party is pot luck, but in this case I think it's retarded!

A friend of ours got married about 4 months ago out of state, had a very small wedding....family only. Now they are back, and want to host a party celebrating their marriage with their friends. So, they decided to do a BBQ. Here's how it was explained:

'We would love to celebrate with you and have decided to host a bbq. Please let us know if you can make it for planning purposes. Basically, we are going to provide a grill outside on the stoop (it is a fun stoop!) with a big bucket drinks. After everyone has eaten their meat we will come up to our place and have little munchies and music and drinks and ??? You would need to bring your own meat products and drinks. We will provide condiments and some beer and maybe hotdogs. Not much more because we spent a lot on our wedding'.

And that's it!!

Is it just me

Christine, that's what I wondered, what exactly makes a stoop 'fun'?

Anyone? Anyone?

Maybe it doubles as a home for the bbq and the perfect height for a good game of stoop ball.

My grandparents lived in queens when I was little, I spent many a afternoon playing stoop ball.....ahhh, the memories!

Kim, you are actually very right. We used my stoop when I was little for stoop ball also..that makes a stoop *fun*.

But my mother never put a charcoal grill on it and waited for people to arrive with raw meat and chairs.

lol, very true.

Maybe they built an extension onto the 'stoop' that hosts the bbq. Imagine it;s the toaster oven from the kitchen hooked up to a really long extension cord?...

Stop at the local 7 11 and bring your very own big gulp and hot dog. eat and laugh as they try to cram all there *gifts* into the toaster oven.

So are you gonna go or no?? I hope you do so you come back with tons and tons of stories.

I am surprised they didn't ask you to bring your own toilette paper. Then again the prob expect you to squat in the street.

Ya know what's funny, they buy the CHEAP stuff like condiments and expect the guests to bring STEAK. Steak is so not cheap

Misty, while you're at the concert, I'm sure you'll be thinking of all the fun you're missing

Yes (I have vays ), and I'm already practicing how to get Bruce's attention so he can pull me on stage like Cortney Cox.

But yeah I think I'll go for the hotdog..well, it might just be a roll and ketchup, I don't know if they'll have hotdogs.

Liz, his wife is on stage with him, I don't know if it'll work this time. That and DH said he'd be forced to get on stage and grab his wife's ass if Bruce pulled me up. LOL.
