thats ok.. but yes everyone will get a bottle and a glass...my parents gave the bottles at their wedding 30 years ago.. and FIL gave glasses at theirs 27 years ago!
that is so thoughtful Megan!!! Both sets of parents will feel really honored! Way to put on you're thinking cap.
BTW, I feel REALLY cheap. Thanks Tilde and Ker and all you other italians!!!

I feel frugal too (not cheap, frugal, it's nicer!), this is one of the areas that we're kind of cutting back in. I found my salt & pepper shakers for like $1.50 a piece and I'm only having 150 guests! AND it's per couple so I am really one frugal bride. BUT I think of it this way, we've gotten so many gifts from weddings that we don't know where they are because we haven't used them ever! At least everyone uses salt & pepper at least once in their life so even though it's inexpensive, it is still useful!

we picked out those.. thats what we had decideed on since we were told its a bad idea to do nothing.. i even ordered a sample and everyone loved them their GREAT and peopl will love them!! .. but i like my idea better for my wedding.. its costing us more but its sentimental!

Re: whats too much?
I'm trying to keep favors super minimal because I need to save money somewhere. We might just hand out copias, which is a ribbon with the date and names of bride and groom. It's a traditional favor in hispanic weddings and an easy way to keep costs down while convincing FH Italian family that they're being 'cultural.'

Re: whats too much?
my mom's side traditionally does copias too, i told my mom that if my grandma and aunt want to do it that's fine, but I want to do my own favor as well. just haven't figured out what to do yet.

Re: whats too much?
I am probably donating to a charity instead of giving a favor...the organization will usually send you little chocalates or something to give, and it explains what you did...I think people will probably appreciate it

i love that idea - my brother did that also and gave out homemade cookies - everyone loved it
i want to do a small donation to a few charities that are important to us in addition to the favors ( for alzheimer's, autism and cancer - three issues my family is dealing with/has dealt with)

Me too!! We'll be the Frugal ones together.. I was looking at the S&P shakers too, but FMIL is very craftsy so I figures doing a couple of DIY projects will get her really into the wedding. She has no daughters so I want to get her as involved as possible.
