What's up girls???

What's up girls???

How's it going girls? How is the planning going? Anything new for anyone on here? We need more 09 brides to join us and get this board going. Nothing new yet with me. I haven't booked yet... I just can't decide. We do hopefully plan to have a place booked by the end of this month though. I went to look at Jericho Terrace and It was really nice but I think it will be too expensive for us. The BM is trying to push for a 100 minimum in the Oak room and we really only want to guarantee 50 or 60. He quoted us $75pp for a Sat or Sun AM and we really only want to pay $65pp. I also looked at Manor East. They are redoing almost everything. It really does need to be redone but it wasn't for us either. I also visited the Astoria World Manor, nope not for us either... I want to take a look at the Renaissance of Astoria. It looks really nice on the website. I don't know how much I like the idea of having my wedding ceremony in the middle of the dance floor though but it's worth the look. I wish I was rich and had 100 people to invite and then I'd really have some great options!

Hey Maureen,

Before you know it this board will be jumping. I feel the same way sometimes about the board not being busy. But, patience is a virtue. Nothing new for me. I am going to put down on my gown because it came out last year. I want to order it before it gets discontinued. I have gotten quotes for reception hall, florist, photgraphers. Now it's just making down payments.

I've still got my fingers crossed for ya Maureen!

I haven't been doing any planning at all I just need to see my FH and to speak with him about all of this stuff! It's so difficult for us to plan with all that's going on lately (distance, work, school, $$, etc.).

For now, I'm just enjoying watching everyone else on here plan, and sharing in the excitement!

Yup, our boards will be moving in no time!

Re: What's up girls???

Hey girls!! Nothing new yet with me either. FI and I finally sat down and talked about what we want/don't want for our wedding and from time to time I'll search online for RH's but that's about it. I think we're going to go look at Land's End and Chateau La Mer over Thanksgiving break and if not it will wait until winter break. At this point I really just want to enjoy being engaged.

On a totally NWR note though, things have been rough with me. I'm at a point now where I have no motivation to do any school work, I don't want to be involved with my sorority and I'm having serious roommate issues. All I can think about is when I'm going to be home next and it's seriously making me depressed. I want the new chapter of my life to start...go to grad school, start to establish my career and start my life with my FI. This college thing really stinks and I want nothing more than for it to be over.

Sorry, just needed to get that off my mind. This site always makes my day better though and I can't wait until I can share my own wedding details with all of you (once we get the ball rolling). I know I can always walk away from these boards with a smile on my face.

Thanks for making it all the way through girlies!! I promise I'll try to post more!!

Hang in there Nicole we'll be okay! FM me anytime if you ever need to vent some more! I can totally relate to your situation.. You're not alone!

hey girls, sorry to crash the 09 board but I thought I hit 08 and then saw Maureen's post. JT quoted me $85 pp for a 150 minimum in the dome room, I don't know the formal name of the room but it has a large dome, hence, the dome room. Anyway, it's crap! Do you think b/c your minimum is smaller he quoted you $75? ALSO, who did you deal with there? We spoke to robert. Oh and it's not the time of the year b/c we told him we wanted to book for sept 14 2008

Re: What's up girls???

Thanks Jeanine I'm still undecided, lol. I have to be the most undecisive person ever. I don't know if we should keep looking at RH's or just pick from the 18 or so we've looked at. I'm so tired of driving all over Long island. We have officially narrowed it down to 3 (Larkfield Manor, Westbury Manor and Leonard's) but coming to a final decision is going to be difficult. I keep looking in pursuit of my nice affordable Saturday night but I guess I just have to come to terms that that's not going to happen I'll just have to figure out an awesome after party spot so I feel like we partied all night, maybe at a hotel bar???

justustwo48 - I'm so there with you girl! I go to college full time and between school and work I'm shot. I 'm so freaking stressed sometime it's not funny. I wish I could just fast forward a couple years to when I finally have my sh*t together, although that's probably quite a few more years than I think. Just hang in there. You're doing this for your future. It might su*k now but it will be worth it in the end. I'd rather get the tough stuff done now so I can sit back and enjoy the rewards in the years to come.

Re: What's up girls???

Mike & Jess _ he probavly quoted me that price out of sympathy, lol. I just came from school in my rusted up 16 year old honda with sweatpants and a t-shirt on. I dealt with Chad and from the get go I told him we have a small party and we have an even smaller budget. Maybe the dome room is more expensive than the Oak room.

Re: What's up girls???

Hey Helen! I went back to the Douglaston Manor with FH because he didn't see it the first time and I liked it even more the second time around! They had 2-3 parties going on but they had it under control and it didn't look hectic at all. Unfortunately we can't afford Douglaston even on a Sunday afternoon or else it would have been perfect!
