Re: whats with TARGET

They are a little difficicult. I wasn't registered there, but someone gave me a shower gift from Target. I didn't have a receipt, but the box identified the item as being from Target.

When I brought it back, I was told that I could only exchange it for another item in the SAME department.

Re: whats with TARGET

The same thing happened w/a Christmas gift we got from Target. Even with the receipt, their policy to return it was: exchange it for 1 item of the same price OR HIGHER from the same department! How stupid is that? With the receipt!

Re: whats with TARGET

I haven't registered there, but I wouldn't because of a problem I had with a Christmas gift once. Same stupid policy the other girls mentioned... you can only return something and get the same value from the same DEPARTMENT, which is ridiculous. And, for me, even getting them to agree to do THAT was insane.

Re: whats with TARGET

yup... its a great store, but their return policy stinks!
i got something for christmas. i didn't have the receipt, but i figured i would run in, return it, and get store credit to spend later.... BUT they told me i HAD to spend in THAT day... i was kinda mad because i was on my lunch break and didn't really have time to shop right then...
i've also heard a couple stories of things not getting delete off the registry, and the couple getting doubles of things... not too big a deal i guess, but just annoying
so yeah, GREAT store, but just needs work on their return policy!

Re: whats with TARGET

a girl on the OTHER wedding website just posted a horror story about her target registry.

she's on here too BnBDreamin - this is the C&P of her post:

Some of the oldies may remember my Target registry issue months ago but I'll run a quickie to catch the rest of you up....

Registered at Target for e-party in August... got 3 belgian waffle irons... only 2 were marked off on the registry... went to return them for store credit to get our dishes... Target registry is only valid 90 days before and after your wedding date... even though they had a registry list that said 2 belgian waffle irons were purchased for us, they would not give store credit without a receipt and if I did have the receipt and it was not paid in cash, I'd get a credit only in that department (we did ask our guests for receipts [how taky!] but they never came through with them)... did not need any other small appliances so asked for other options... manager, lady on the red phone and girl in district office told me to wait until 90 days before my wedding and then I can get full store credit without a receipt, not just in that department because then the registry that says 2 waffle irons purchased would be a 'valid receipt'... I've been looking at these sharts sitting in our closet since August... go there today and asked for a gun and print out to update my registry for my shower... the $49.99 waffle irons are now listed at $12.48!!!!! I notice this whilst in the candle aisle and grabbed a clerk, told my story, who then grabbed a manager... so there I am quite calmly (I do not do irate customer) explaining that this policy is horse crap!!! Those biotches told me to wait and now the sh!ts are $12 effing dollars!!!!!!

Long story short... I'm going back on Tuesday with my two belgian waffle irons to said manager and he is going to work something out for me! He'd better!!!!! And I'd better not lose out on what my guests paid! I told him that we do not need any other small appliances but plenty other items from Target and I'm not taking $24 for $100 that my guests spent! He tells me... your not out a dime, you did not spend the money (I was about to hand him the registry scan gun I had and was about to walk away!) and then he says why did you not get another small appliance, you could buy a blender every six months! I said who the heck goes through a blender every six months, he says I do! I said your nuts!

I just do not get how I can have a dated piece of paper with Target's logo on it that says that 2 belgian waffle irons with sku's were purchased for Denise and Gregg for $49.99... why can I not just get a freakin' store credit for them!!!! I did what those forkin' managers told me to do back then and I'm now getting screwed!!!!! Yes...while I did not pay a dime for them, it's the principal of the matter and the intention of our guests that we have a $50 value gift from them. I fell into some crappy loop hole here and I sure hope this guy makes things right for a valued, faitful customer. Cause I gotta tell you... I am thinking twice about keeping my registry with Target!

Phew!!! Thanks for letting me get that out!!!! I'll keep you posted after Tuesday! If you want to pick up a belgian waffle iron for $12.48 after I return them... come to Bay Shore Target after 1pm!
