What's wrong with this picture?

There's these young guys that hang out on the corner of my block and the main street in my neighborhood, by the local pizza store. They think it's OK to have one guy on one corner and another guy on the diagonal corner and THROW A FOOTBALL TO ONE ANOTHER WHILE CARS ARE GOING BY!
I mean are these guys stupid??? This is a corner with a traffic light so they do this when cars are sitting at the light too. One day the ball hit my car but it had already bounced off the street so it didn't cause damage but the kid didn't even apologize! And that was after the other kid threw it too low and it missed the car in front of me by inches! I dont' get it, they're not 10 or 12 years old and don't realize how dangerous this is...they have to be at least 16 or 17 and possibly/probably older. This has been going on for weeks, sporatically. And it seems like no one tells them to stop or they do and the kids dont listen. All it takes is for one guy to lose his grip as he is throwing the ball or underestimate where he's throwing it and either hit a car while it's driving or the car swerves to avoid it and hits someone.

What I don't understand is why these guys think that this is alright to do. I think maybe they get stoned first or something because I can't figure out why they think this is not an extremely dangerous pasttime.

At age 16-17 or even a bit older .. kids can be more disrespectful / more stupid / more rebellious than kids around 10-12 .. but that's just my opinion.

What these guys are doing is dangerous, no doubt!

A little while after we moved into our house .. we had a group of kids who would hang out on our corner .. and some of the boys, who were 'old enough to know better' would take their skateboards to the top of our walkway, right by our front door, and ride it back down toward the street! Our walkway descends down to the street .. and there are several steps along the way!

These days, there is very little that surprises me out of people .. there is just so little respect out there for others .. in all age groups .. I find it depressing!

The weird thing is - cops have driven by while this is going on! Of course they won't toss the ball while they drive by..they just look like they're standing there waiting to cross the street or something.

And if you call the cops they say it's not 'an emergency' and they'll get there when they can. Grr!

Sure wait until someone gets run over or something horrible happens.

I would call the police they could be recklessly endangering the lives of others - they could cause a serious or deadly accident.

This has become a society or do whatever you want with no regards for others and their saftey and rights. Doesn't surprise me in the least. We were talking about this last night and to be honest I am truly getting disgusted to see the direction that America (or at the very least NY) is heading in.
