We recently bought an electrolux upright vaccum which is pretty lightweight and an awesome vaccum. What is even better was it was originally $500 and we got it for $300 at PC Richards.

I just bought the new Dyson Slim line model DC-18. It's lighter than the other ones but supposedly the power is as good. Since it's slim line the cannister is smaller so you may need to empty more often but I find it lighter than the upright I was using - - it's 15 lbs. What is really nice is that the cleaning head is like the ball version and it swivels so you can get around furniture easier. I think bed, bath might let you use the 20% coupon on it which makes the price better and if you register for it and don't get it don't they take another 10% off - - or can't you use a coupon with that??? Price in most stores is $469.
