what's your favorite vacuum?

Are there any lightweight vacuums that you girls like?

My husband!!!!! He's a human vacuum ....... when it comes to eating that is!!!!

We have hardwood throughout our entire house, BUT if we were to get one, it would be Dyson

lol- hubbys are perfect for cleaning!
yes, I liked the dyson as well... they are just a little pricey

also, what does 'bagless' mean?.. how do you clean it & throw the gross stuff out?

Yes, that is true. The price tag is pretty high.......hmmmmmmmmm, I know there are other good ones out there though that aren't that pricey..... I'll have to think about this one. My friend just bought one for her allergies. I'll have to see what it is......she LOVES it.

All the icky stuff just goes into a compartment and you just dump it out! Bagless, in my eyes, are the way to go........easier to clean and take care of

an oreck is the lightest vac out there...

they are not bagless though but i prefer vacs that are not bagless as the ones w/ bags tend to lose suction and don't work as well.

i've heard that the dyson 'never loses suction' well, i don't know if it's true or not but i didn't want it b/c it weighs a TON and we have stairs...

so, i went with the oreck-- my sister has one and loves it... they have all different prices to choose from (like 2 and change up to 6 and change) and they come with free stuff like maintanence checks, a ton of bags, a canister vac, an iron, etc.

they have oreck stores all over and they are rated very hight on consumer reports, hth!

it's so funny b/c i always thought bagless was the way to go but now that i have used my sister's vac w/ a bag i found that it's actually cleaner WITH a bag... b/c: when it's bagless you have to dump the crap out into a garbage or a bag and throw it out-- but in the process of the dumping (since it's all dusty and stuff) a lot of it gets re-released into the air. with the bag-- when you take it off it's already sealed and ready for the garbage- so you are skipping that step of taking it and dumping it into a garbage bag...

and in turn, skipping the step where all the crap goes into the air. sometimes you don't even realize how much b/c the particals are microbial- meaning, they cannot be seen w/ the naked eye. wow, i'm getting all 'biological' on you... LOL but in any event- that's what used to happen with my old, cheap bagless... ugh! it's like when you sneeze and they have you on infared camera and you see just how much stuff comes out of you that you can't see with your naked eyes! lol HTH as you can tell- i did my research

I have a VAX that i acutally won from the martha stewart show!! I have never seen it in stores but there is a website. It works really well and it is cheaper than a Dyson and it's bagless.

I know my parents have a dyson, and they love it (it's got some special attachments for pet hair which they need since they have a collie!) I believe they are happy with it, and have had it for several years. As the previous poster said though, it really is not lightweight at all. You could get a workout lugging the thing up and down stairs. I know dyson came out with a slim model, which might be much lighter than the original.

FH and I just bought a Kenmore Progressive vacuum 35922 (the one with the bag) and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!! It cleans phenominally well and it even has a dirt indicator on it that tells you when the spot you are cleaning is actually clean. If the spot is dirty it stays orange, but it goes to green when it's clean. Also I agree with Dani about the bagless vacuum!! You also get more suction with a bagged vacuum and you also don't have to change the bag as often as you would have to dump the bagless ones. Just an FYI!! I couldn't be happier with my vacuum. It was $299 for anyone that is interested!!

I have a dyson and love it. The middle part is clear and you see all the dirt and everything else going into it. Theres a button you press and the clear middle part pops out and you just carry that part and theres a lever you pull and the bottom pops out and you throw it in the garbage. ITs not a lightweight but at the same time i don't think its that heavy. I have carried it a couple of times and it was never a problem and I didn't think it was that heavy.

It is also good for bare floors, it has a switch on the bottom for carpet or bare floors

amen to that! i don't care what brand he uses, how freaking heavy it is, bagless or with a bag, suction- no suction-- as long as HE is doing it!! LOL!!
