What's your MOH doing

Re: What's your MOH doing

Well my MAID of honor works in music management and her band is on tour right now so she is incredibly busy. My MATRON of honor is a working mother of 2 and just bought a new house. The truth is, the only thing they need to do is a shower. As far as my plans go, everything is done. They call me from time to time and see what Im up to but other than that, there is nothing FOR them to do.

mine's gone over any beyond - and I am super lucky

she ordered all my favors, then lugged all 118 of then to and from her car, she planned my bachelorette party months in advance and got everyone together, and she tried on 100+ bridesmaid dresses for me.
shes the best.

Can I borrow her when you're done?

Mine's basically focusing on the bachelorette party...funny...b/c I told her I don't want one.

aww that *****!

My MOH (sister) has thrown my shower and is planning my BP.... She came with me to look at dresses and went shopping for some of the stuff with me like shoes...
MY other MOH (Sister-in-law) is my emotional support.... she has been keeping me sane throughout the psychosis of my parents... she knows, she has been through it before.... she is also the one coming to learn how to bussel me up

I don't know yet.....

I just emailed her my guest list yesterday because she asked me for it 2 weeks ago. So I presume that my shower will now be in the works.

The dresses are done for everyone, I just have to wait until December to retake measurements.

She just bought a house upstate in September and has a 2 year old, so I know she has been busy. I don't really think there is anything else I need from her right now, but I know she's there if I need her. I just feel terrible now because when I was her MOH I know I didn't do half of the things I was supposed to do!!

That is too funny...It's funny how people decide what 'you' want to do or not do. It seems to be an epidemic though

I have 2 and they both have been great. So far I really haven't need a whole lot from them, but they have been great with constantly checking how plans are going, if I need any help, offering suggestions, etc.

I'm getting married and I'm also a MOH for my sister... my thought is, do what you can. All of the planning does not interest many people, doesn't mean they don't care about you or your wedding though. If it's your wedding then it's your responsibilty with your FH to take care of things. If people help out, then great! (IMO)

I totally agree. My sister (MOH) was too busy to help.

NOTHING-NADA-ZIP-ZERO-NILL... get the picture?
My MOH lives in Chicago,I flew her in for the weekend last winter to go dress shopping for HER and I bought her the dress of HER choice.I never even looked at the pricetag,I just wanted her to be happy but I was very offended when she started looking at $$Designer$$ dresses she could 'wear again' because she saw I was willing to make her happy and because she would never spend that kinda $$ herself..plus these gowns were anything but wedding-ish looking!

She never once asked if I needed help or how things were going. NO shower,NO bachlarette(sp?) The one time she did call my sister was to get my sisters opinion on a wedding gift. My sis told her that it was inappropriate but did she listen? Noooo.. BTW,it was a plaque of our countries (we're from Croatia) flag! ***? Like my fathers the president or something? Was she thinking I was planning on opening up an embassy?

Fast foward to wedding weekend(2 months ago) She doesn't want to stay at MY house because she wants to party..fine I pay for her hotel. Friday 5:00pm she brings a truckload of ppl to my house and starts complaining why don't I have anything on-hand foodwise? I don't know? MAYBE 'CAUSE WE'RE GETTING READY TO GO TO THE RD? That's about to start in 3 hours!!! I leave to do errands and go to RD..8:00pm.. she's not there,9:00,10:00... 11:36 here she comes strolling in, I was speechless! I just walked up to her and asked her if she had the time. Her excuse? ' I went to a BBQ after I left your house,I couldn't eat & run!' (a little background: we have many mutual friends here in NY)

Wedding Day : 8:30am She calls me half an hour before we're suppose to go for our hair & make-up
MOH:'can you rescheduale my appointment for this afternoon? I just got in and I had NO sleep.I really need a few hours of sleep and a shower.I'll just skip the getting ready with you and pictures in the city, can I meet you at NRC?'
Me: 'You're kidding right? Are you in front of the house? Are you ready to go?' I was oblivious..this could not be happening!
In my hand was her gift I never gave her from the night before,a Fendi bag, earrings from Tiffany's and a spa gift certificate. BTW,I already paid for her hair & make-up for the day.

She made it to the ceremony just in time but..decided she didn't like the nail polish she had on so she WHIPPED OUT THE KIT AND STARTED TO DO HER NAILS AT COCKTAIL HOUR IN FRONT OF THE GUESTS! She was promptly stopped by my DOC.

Ladies, I kid you NOT. These are all true events that my wonderful, beautiful, resourceful friend and DOC (who is banned from LIW ) can attest to!

Now,who was complaining about their MOH????
Anyone???? I should add that she's NOT a kid, she's 33 -single,no obligations in life and maaayyybe a little resentful
Last weekend she saw the proofs, one and only comment was 'Oh,I loooove this picture of me!' meaning: of HERSELF.. no- it was fun, beautiful ceremony, wonderful day
My DH thinks she's just plain selfish and encourages me to tell her off once and for all.

Sorry for the ultra long rant.

When I sent her a pic of her Bo'K she said that if that day,she didn't like the lemmon grass she''ll just 'pick it out'

I could go on for hours...

Oh my god that is terrible that your MOH did those things to you. I would have lost it.

As of now not alot but she is a great sounding board and keeps me sane. I have had her with me to certain things like picking out my dress and the BM dresses. I know she will be my biggest help as time nears. I love her.

Re: What's your MOH doing

my MOH has been very busy. she's been a sounding board, great listener, helps me pick out the BM dresses, went to stores for me, and has patiently listened to me when i can't make decisions. basically, she's going above and beyond what i did for her. (unlike me, she can actually make a decision on her own!)

she's busy living her own life with her husband but still finds time to call me and even sent me a card the other day. i am beyond grateful for her!!

Re: What's your MOH doing

i have tow MOH - both my sisters. So far they have come with me to appt's, dress shopping, and started to plan the BP. They have also been great in listening to every boring detail of the wedding and letting me vent!

Re: What's your MOH doing

Sometimes, I think my MOH is more excited than me about this wedding!

She has come to a few dress salons to try on dresses with me.

She picked out the BM dresses and everyone loved them.

She came with me to see the reception place.

She came with me to the florist.

She and another BM met with my mom to plan my shower.

She and another BM are planning my bachelorette.

She is letting me borrow her headpiece and jewelry for the day of.

She is also keeping me on top of everything and making sure I keep on schedule with planning. I am lucky and I also think it helps that she is already married and knows a lot of this stuff already.

Mine hasn't done much but that is because I haven't really asked her to. My FI and I do almost all of the planning together and Mom helps with the girly thing FI doesn't care about.

My MOH who happens to be one of my best friends actually did TOO much.....LOL

But I guess it all depends on the person.....there are some people that are extremely thoughtful and generous and then there are some who have no clue what to do.....

All I know is I hope I can be the best MOH to her (now that its her turn) as she was to me.

She's planning my bridal shower. I know she booked a place, but that's all I know, all I need to know, and all I want to know!

Re: What's your MOH doing

my MOH is my sister...and she hasn't had much to do as of yet. but she's been looking at stuff online that i send her and we talk about things for the wedding on the phone. i know she will be coming with me to any and all dress shopping trips...and she's planning 2 bridal showers (a regular girls only, and a 'jack-n-jill' one) and a bachelorette party. so she'll be doing enough with all that!
