to help with your wedding? I'm interested because as yet, mine has not really taken too much action in doing anything.

she hasn't really done anything, but I haven't asked her to. I know she is going to planning and paying for my shower and gave us so much when we got engaged, what more can I ask for?

Re: What's your MOH doing
My Moh has been planning the shower and such. She is prenant now so I feel like I do not want to bother her. Although she is interested. My sister (BM) has been great and asks about the wedding and wants to help all of the time!! I have been asking my sister for help!

Re: What's your MOH doing
I have two. My sister and my best friend from when we were 6 years old. (I know her longer than I know my sister!)
My sister does what she can - she's a 2nd year pedatric resident, so her hours are crazy. And only since yesterday with a week to go before the wedding has my other one taken any interest. She helped assemble all the programs yesterday and will be doing my place cards for me. Just alot of last minute details.

Re: What's your MOH doing
Let's see, when he asked (but before I got the ring) she came with me to try on my dress and made sure to point out that I was jinxing the relationship by trying on any dress without a ring. Then two days later she came with me to the Vera Wang sample sale and helped pick out dresses for me to try. I should explain that I found my dress online, but wanted to go to Vera Wang sale, and my MOH suggested I try on the dress I saw online before went to Vera Wang sale so I could actually compare since I liked the online picture so much. In that respect, she was very helpful, because but for the trip to try the dress I found online, I would have bought one at Vera Wang, but when compared to the dress I ultimately chose, they didn't compare. I should also point out she was 6-7 months pregnant when we did this.
Ummm, she tried on 4 dresses after I begged her for 3 weeks to set aside time to try them on. Then I managed to get her out on the pretense (not a true pretense, but something legit that in the back of my mind I was hoping I could parlay into BM dress shopping) to try on 3 other dresses. This would be after the baby was born.
Since then - NOTHING! No phone calls to see how things are going. No questions about plans. No offers to help. NOTHING!! I understand that she is a new mother, but give me a break. I went to her house a few weeks back and helped her spackle her basement. We were together for 5 hours. You would think she would at least ASK how things are going with the planning.
And this is my sister! I was her MOH. I went to 20 different bridal salons with her to help her pick out/try on wedding dresses, and then another six or so to look for my dress. I went with her to look at invitations, unity candles, and miscellaneous stuff. Together with her best friend I planned her bridal shower (and paid for it, with help from our mom). And I generally kept in touch with her throughout planning and offered help all the time.

Re: What's your MOH doing
I have 2 MOH. (maid and matron) the Maid is trying to do too much. She wanted to pay for the whole shower (which I insited my mom chip in for and the matron and I agree that the 6 other BM can chip in) and she wants to make sure the matron is doing her part.
My matron and I got into a little fight before her wedding in August b/c she was ignoring her in-laws and hurting a lot of people. I think she has forgiven me but either was she has a weird way of doing things and many of the BP don't get a long with her or don't know how to handle her. I appreciate her involvement for the most part and she seems to be doing OK...
As for the BP- it's funny how when you sit down and talk about who does what and who pays for what EVERYONE has a different opinion. 2-3 of my BM believe the brides mom pays for the whole shower. Others believe she chips in or pays a lot or as much as she can...my mom believes it's crass for the MOB to thow the shower as it's begging for gifts (this is on the knot.com as a changing thing and my mom now accepts that she's out of date!)
On top of all this my Bp all have financial issues so I get frustrated when one girl (who already has enough $$ to put down on a house but won't buy herself a car and always asks for rides) complains about 2-30 for a little spa trip in addition to dinner and dancing then tells me to register for good china and her and her sister will get it for me! Plus, she volunteered to pay for the increased prices hair people are charging me b/c I need them at 5 am!! I'm confused!!
It'll all work out...either way...I honestly can't care anymore!! I'm too stressed with everythin else!! Great post to rant on!!

Re: What's your MOH doing
So far, she only bought me a wedding planner, and we went dress shopping for fun the month I got engaged, she was excited and made me go! It's hard to involve her, she is student teaching and going to school and working another job as well! She can't even make it gown shopping w/ me on Wed

Re: What's your MOH doing
I'm getting married and I'm also a MOH for my sister... my thought is, do what you can. All of the planning does not interest many people, doesn't mean they don't care about you or your wedding though. If it's your wedding then it's your responsibilty with your FH to take care of things. If people help out, then great! (IMO)

Re: What's your MOH doing
My MOH is my sister. I am sure she is doing A LOT behind the scenes - like planning my shower (which I said I wanted as a surprise) and my Bachelorette party)
She also came with me to try on BM dresses and helped pick one out for the BMs.

Re: What's your MOH doing
My MOH went above and beyond. She really tried to make everything special. She went dress shopping with me, BM dress shopping, she went to my hair and make-up trials, constantly called me to find out how I was doing and to let me know I could always vent to her, planned my bachelorette party and bridal shower, gave me great gifts, poems, etc for those parties, and planned a little gathering the night before the wedding where they gave me a bridal emergency kit and everyone shared their favorite memories of me. She also went with me to the clinique counter and spent 2 hours with me deciding what colors we were going to wear (since I hardly ever wear makeup). On the day of the wedding, she helped me stay calm, helped me get into my dress, made sure I ate/drank that morning, carried extra tissues, gathered people for pictures, helped me remove my veil after the ceremony, read a passge during the ceremony, wrote a wonderful speech, and did so much more. I was very lucky to have such a great friend.

Re: What's your MOH doing
Let's see...
1. Went with me for the initial dress shopping (she lives in Chicago) and was extremely patient when I was going back and forth at a rapid pace btw 2 dresses. And she did NOT say 'told you so' when I figured out what I didn't like about one of the dresses was exactly what she had originally thought was wrong with it.
2. Is going to be planning my shower, bachelorette party, etc as the time gets closer.
3. Offered me tons of advice on where to register and for what.
4. Gives me honest opinions on anything and everything.
5. Is there for me 24/7 to answer questions, no matter how dumb they may seem.
6. Gives me advice on my diet (she lost tons of weight before her own wedding and helps me come up with realistic eating plans and goals).
7. Most importantly, she helps keep me grounded and sane, just as she has been doing since we were 15.
I would be completely lost without her!
Edited for spelling.

My sister did a lot!
she planned by bach party- awesome my shower- awesome
and she helps me when ever I ask!
That's what my sister's role is too! She's away at school but serves as a great punching bag for my planning 'issues'

Re: What's your MOH doing
mine is my sister.... she's gone dress shopping with me and offered advice with a few different vendors. she'll definitely go BM dresses and will be game for trying on whatever I want! I know she would do even more than that if she could -- she lives in another state and has 2 little ones!
she will definitely plan the shower and has already started putting ideas together for that! i'm happy with what she's doing and the support she has given!

That's a great question and a sore point for me. I have two MOH's - my sister and my best friend. My sister isn't traditionally interested in girl stuff but she has come to try on bridesmaid's dresses and listened to me about all the details of the wedding. Not too active a role but a very good effort for her and I recognize that.
My best friend has been a complete dissappointment unfortunately. Since I've been engaged she has taken little to no interest in anything. She never asks about the wedding - nothing - not even what my dress looks like. Her only concern was the bridesmaid's dress and the bachellorette party. She didn't even come to try the dresses on but only has something to say after I picked the finalists. She's found out info. about the bachellorete party - -picked a date and found out prices. She's supposed to communicate that everyone else.
Sorry for the rant and the vent but this has really bothered me for some time. It made me see her friendship for what it really is. While I'm sad about it I have support from others.
My mom is planning my bridal shower.
yes, I am also dissapointed with my MOH - she has shown NO interest, and I feel like I am annoying or bothering her whenever I try to touch base with her about the wedding - it is really sad
As horrible as it it to say....Thank God I am not the only one having these problems with my MOH!!! Thought I was the only one....and I'm trying so hard not to let it get to me but I've known her since i was like 5 and its very upsetting! I want to bring it to her attention but i don't want to get myself more stressed out about the whole thing - its a tough situation and an unfortunate one
