The ultra conservative, right-wing christian groups predominantly located in the so-called Bible Belt that are trying to force their religious beliefs on the rest of the country through legislation.

Well I am the same religion as Bush so lets just leave it alone, we really should not make comments on posts like this because it is only going to cause drama.

I'm Jewnostic. Jewish born and raised and by tradition, but not so sure about an omnipotent presence or higher power. FH is Jewish and believes in G-d.

That was sort of my point. I was turning it around - if all religions that believe in Christ are in the same category, then you can put all religions that don't belive in Christ in another.

Not trying to cause drama, Bridget. You asked what I meant by the Religious Right and I explained it. No need to get bent out of shape. And I didn't mention Bush so I don't know why your comment was more towards me.

Re: What's your RELIGION?

For those interested (or not) there’s a link to a GREAT Summary of the Agnostic beliefs.

I feel we don’t really qualify as ‘not sure’. Even Webster’s Dictionary defines Agnostic as: One who disclaims any knowledge of God but does not deny the possibility of God’s existence.

Bertrand Russell - What is an Agnostic?

It's a great read and he hits a lot of the major misconceptions people have of Agnostics.

ETA : Example:
What kind of evidence could convince you that God exists?

“I think that if I heard a voice from the sky predicting all that was going to happen to me during the next twenty-four hours, including events that would have seemed highly improbable, and if all these events then produced to happen, I might perhaps be convinced at least of the existence of some superhuman intelligence. I can imagine other evidence of the same sort which might convince me, but so far as I know, no such evidence exists.”

DH is a very unreligious Catholic.
I'm Greek Orthodox (which falls under Christian too).

Re: What's your RELIGION?

FH and I are both Roman Catholic, but I'm considering changing my religion because the RC Church doesn't really work for me...

But I have so many religious influences in my life and in my immediate family in particular, I've always been confused and skeptical about religion. But that's just me.

Re: What's your RELIGION?

I voted 'agnostic' but I'm really not sure. Atheist maybe.

I'm skeptical about religion, basically because it seems to cause/lead to so much strife between people (from violent strife to arguing on... say... websites). I know that faith means a lot to many people, but it seems like faith is most beneficial when its personal, or shared with a family or congregation (as opposed to when it enters into societal institutions -- that's when the trouble seems to begin).
