I have just under 14 months until the big day, and am getting pressure to register from both my Mom and FMIL.
Do you think it's too soon to register now? I hear things become discontinued and fear that will happen if we register this Spring or even this Summer.

We registered a few months ago. I was sick of hearing people say where did you register and did you register yet! I guess if people wanted to get me gifts I should make it easy for them!

I started my registry already, but only basics that I know will not get discontinued (everyday plates and fine china).
If things go discontinued, you can always take them off the registry and add new...

People were asking where I was registered a week after we got engaged...people love registries and love to buy you stuff off of them. We registered after we sent our our E-Party invites and our wedding isn't till sept 2012...I was glad to get it done, now I can monitor and add/remove stuff online.

I'm not registered yet- probably will do it some time this month though-- I'd say up to 8 months before is about average.

i was going to wait until like 8-6 months before. People are asking me too and my wedding is over a year away! Like you said i dont want anything to be discontiuned

I figure once I sent out the STD's this summer, I will register and then just monitor for the discontinued items.
We have gotten a few gifts so far (mostly from FH's side) and they were gift cards, cash, and Dom Perignon. Since we aren't having an e-party, it's nice to get a random gift or two!

I was planning on registering about 6 months before the wedding, since that is what I've read in all the magazines.
I'd say register for some stuff now, and then wait and add the bigger things around the half-way mark. That way there are items that ppl can find to send you an engagement present if they want!

I registered back in January/February. We were not having an egagement party so i waiting just before the one year mark to do it.

We did a registry after we got engaged for the engagement party (and thank goodness we did). Only a few people went completely off the mark. Most people went with the registry or they gave us gift cards, cash, checks. It was nice! We were very thankful that we did it so soon.
My room... however... is suffering because there's no space for everything.
Oh, and despite the registry.. I did wind up with about maybe 10 scrapbooks/photo albums and maybe 4-5 vases.

I already started a Williams Sonoma registry online, I think I am going to go into the store and complete at least that one before June. My e-party is June 25th so my Dad (yes my dad hehe) says I need to give people options other than $$.

I'm registered at BB&B. I registered almost a year ago now and the only downside is stuff has been discontinued and I need to update it every so often.
I plan on registering in 1 or 2 more places for options and I will prob do that next year.

We registered last month for our eparty. We have gotten many gifts already off the registery. I keep checking every couple of days to make sure things don't get discontinued.

Im not registering for awhile. I dont really need that much because I already have a house and FH moved in. I hate waste anyway, so I'd rather not register for too much stuff for fun and more of stuff I need new.
FMIL's friend asked where we were registered and she said we werent in a rush bc we dont really need stuff right now.
FMIL says, 'I was right to tell her that? you guys didnt register right?'
I said, 'well I am registered--- at Bank of America!'
