We have chosen our pictures for the Save the Dates, and we are in the process of designing it. I have people that will have to travel from out of the country and I want to give them as much notice as possible.
I'm very curious to know, when are you sending out your STDs?

I probably won't be sending my STDs out until like June and my wedding is May 20 2016. However, I don't have anyone out of the country coming (just out of state). My brother got married in Key Largo so all of our side of the family was from out of state and I think he sent them out about 11-12 months in advance.
I also did that Gilt City purchase ! And right now Wedding Paper Divas has a 20% off sale until Monday. I am trying to take my photos for my STD on Sunday but it's supposed to be windy :( Hopefully they have another big sale once I have my photos!

It seems about a year in advance is the norm, that's when I've been receiving ones from friends/family, especially if there will be many out of town guests invited.

We're going to send them just after the year mark.. You don't want to send them too early and then people don't look at the year, and think it's for 2015! We have family coming from Ireland, and they've already been given notice anyway. Most people can't request time off more than a year out anyway.

Is anyone addressing their STDs formally? I was thinking of just putting 'The (Blahblah) Family' on mine. I am inviting children, so it might be easier for me to do this.

I don't plan on sending them until April next year. We are doing our informal engagement photos (in Omaha) in January so I wanted to give a few months between to get everything ready for the STDs.

I am getting married Labor day weekend of 2016 so my fiance and I were thinking maybe after the holidays of this year around January? But it will be over a year so I am not sure?

I am getting married the same exact day as you and I am going to send them out the very end of August next year. My friend got married the Sunday before Labor Day of this year and I received her save the date around Labor Day last year.

I just got my STD in the mail because I used Gilt City & Wedding Paper Divas (couldn't pass up a good deal) and it had to be used by January 2015 (ended up spending $80 for STD & address labels). Now I have to store them for the next 6-7 months before they get sent out :( ! The bad thing about a long engagement = waiting! lol

I completely understand!!! I got the same deal, and I'm waiting to order them because I know I will want to send them right away. I have reminders on my calendar so that I don't miss the deadline, but I plan to do it in the beginning of December. I can't wait to just send them out. We didn't have an engagement shoot yet, but we had professional pictures taken at our engagement party, so we are using one from there.
