When booking a florist...

how many details do you need to give them? I don't know what kinds and colors of flowers I want or how many centerpieces I will need. What about other things like cake flowers, rose petals, etc.?

Re: When booking a florist...

I booked my florist, but only gave them a few details about the types of flowers that I wanted in the centerpieces. We went over the number of bridesmaids, ushers, flower girls, parents and those sort of things. As far as the number of centerpieces, we estimated, but all of that can be changed. I have not gotten my dress yet so my florist said they want to wait on my bouquet until they see a picture of my dress. I guess if you know what you want that is great, but if not, it shouldn't be a problem.

Re: When booking a florist...

We showed him pictures of similar things we wanted. I just said - 'similar my in my colors.'I asked him to give me price quotes on what I asked for comparable to the pictures. One florist would say I could do it for $150/centerpiece. Another would say $125. I would interview them against each other. The 125 guy got the job... Just an example... In May, 4 months before I will go back and 'hammer out details'.

Re: When booking a florist...

When I was @ BURTONS yesterday, I had really no clue what I wanted except for 'autumn' colors/theme! He totally put ideas in my head and made me so excited!! I would highly recommend you going to see them. Their @ is 631-424-3377

He doesn't go by what flowers you want just by what you would need. They charge the same for every flower no matter what you pick.

Good luck!!

Re: When booking a florist...

When I booked my florist, I did not really know what I wanted either. I looked through some of their books and brought some pictures of my own. I felt comfortable with the people there and their prices so I booked. I did not have any details like cake flowers or number of centerpieces. We'll work that out closer to the date.

Re: When booking a florist...

Depends on the florist - some give you an estimate based on quantity of flowers instead of type (BURTONs) but most need the type of flower to give you an exact amount.

Unless you have a pretty good idea (with the right to change your mind), you probably wont get a very exact price.
