When booking a florist...
When you book a florist, do you have to know exactly how many centerpieces you need? I probably won't know how many I will need until closer to the wedding since I have a lot of OOT guests but I would like to book a florist soon. Also, any advice on the questions I should ask when I go see a florist? I feel like flowers are going to be the hardest part of my wedding planning!

Nope, you don't have to give them a table count until you have a final headcount.

Well you would give them a low estimate, then settle on an amount the extra ones would be to add on. Talk to Cindy from flowers by Brian it was so easy with her

You don't need to know exact. Just a round about. Personally, I gave the MOST I thought I would have that way ill be deducting from the final number instead of adding when everything needs to be aid before the wedding. HTH!

Michelle, at Flowers by Brian just knew how many we needed based on the number of people we invited. I think they are good at kind of knowing a round about number.I recently booked my florist, and it was a little stressful. Once you know what you might want, book them! I like getting everything done now so I don't have to worry it later!

My price was figured on 15 tables, I ended up only having 14. Michelle made up a few smaller pieces to put on the bars, card box table, cake table.

When you go, ask if your florist is willing to do a sample bouquet this year in June. My florist, Lenea from With All My Heart Floral, is doing this for me so she can better understand what I want, and so I can see exactly what she has in mind based on the photos I gave her.I looked on Pinterest, found about 8 photos of bouquets I like, and showed them to her, with specific parts that I liked. My cousin is a florist, so she helped me figure out what the names of the flowers are, but you don't necessarily need to do that.

OOh!! Also, make sure you have it written into your contract that if you have less centerpieces than you planned (ex. you have 14 tables instead of 15), you get flowers for something else, like the card table or the cake or something.I am renting a Chuppah (the covering for a Jewish ceremony), but may decide to have one made by someone else. I had it written into my contract that if I get one from somewhere else, we can use the credit toward flowers for the ceremony or larger centerpieces.
Sorry this is so long!!

I actually paid Michelle before my final head count was due (head count was due 1 week before). And the extra pieces she made looked beautiful where she put them so I was very happy to have them.

I had to let Michelle know how many centerpieces were needed 3 weeks before (and pay), because that is when she orders the flowers. By that time, I had a general idea of how many people were actually coming, because I was just hunting down the non-RSVPers, but my final head count wasn't due until 1 week before. We actually should have had the perfect number of centerpieces, but my MIL wanted to make her tables so big that we lost one table. The extra flowers were incorporated through out the room though, and it looked great.

I was actually glad I had an extra CP because the extra flowers around the room looked fantastic. Michelle does wonderful work.
