When booking photographers...are you ever concerned?

That on their websites, or during your meeting with them, you're only seeing little flashes of brilliance?

I'm meeting with one photographer- I love his website. But then I saw proofs of a wedding and thought, geez, these pics look like they were taken by just about anybody. What if that's my wedding?

Do you think these guys have simply ordinary pictures, and then they just doctor it up with photoshop? Was I just looking at proofs before the retouching? Or is good photography simply just good photography?

I know, here I am worrying and I haven't even gone to my three photographer appointments yet!! I'm no good at wedding planning!

You have to look for consistency throughout the albums that they put in front of you. If they put together a compilation of many different weddings in one album then I would be wary because they really are just showing the best they've ever taken. I'm sure that throughout my lifetime I've taken 90 good pictures but I wouldn't consider myself a good photographer at all, just lucky. Otherwise, when they have albums of complete weddings that they've done and you feel confident of the level of achievement that they were able to maintain throught each album they present to you then I would feel confident that they will do just as well with my wedding.

if you are not impressed by other proofs of theirs i would keep looking. im sure all photogs have pics that are better than others, but if you are not impressed def keep looking.

That can always be a concern, but I know when we went to our photographers studio we looked at tons of albums that he had there. The more you look at the happier you will be. Then you will see the consistency that you want and are looking for.

That's why it's also nice to look them up on here to see people's proofs.

It happens all the time - of course the photogs are only going to show you their best work....Definitely make sure you see a proof book from other weddings.
