I started thread before, but then my computer went all wonky, I couldn't open them, and they're gone now.
So how far in advance can you start creating a registry?

I don't know that there's a 'specific timeframe'. I started mine online early but didn't make them viewable until a few months ago. I know they tell you not to register for towels and linens until a few months before your wedding b/c the store might not carry the same style by the time you're getting married if you register for them too early. Hope this helps.

I would definitely start registering now. My parents friends wanted to buy us some engagement gifts so we started as soon as we were engaged. I do not know when you got engaged but now is as good as time as ever. IF you ask the people at the stores you are registering at what you should not register for this early

from personal experiance, registry planning is not the best thing to do... alot of thought must go into it. I would do a lil at a time (say bathroom stuff 1 day/week and then bedroom stuff, etc) Id must say, i was looking forward to this part but it's HARD (still not done)
i would start now and do little by little...but not tooo far early cause items get discontined and clearanced and disapear from your registry

Thanks. I guess I'll do it maybe 4 or 5 months in advance, so I don't have to worry about things not being available anymore if I do it too early.

IMO, you can start it anytime. We registered last July and we are getting this Sept.

I registered at Fortunoffs as soon as we were engaged - a couple of people sent engagement gifts as soon as they heard (plus it was easy gift ideas for Christmas).
The good thing about Fortunoffs is that you can update it online if you change your mind, or want to add things as you think of them.
