when did you realize that you and FH were really together a long time?
I mean I know we can say the # of years, but when did you really feel it.
Fh and I realized it about 1 1/2 years ago.
When FH and I were dating about 6 months he came with me to my sisters 6th grade graduation. Then 1 and 1/2 years ago we attended my sisters HS graudation. FH turned to me and was like holy cow, i feel like we were just at her 6th grade graduation. thats when you realize that oh my god, we have been together a long @ss time!
We felt like one of those old relatives that come up to you and squeeze your cheeks and say I remember when you were 'this' big!

i love this thread!! great idea! umm...mine is actually a little similar to your story..it was at my sisters sweet sixteen which was two years ago already and we were sitting there and he said do u realize that we have been together since ur sister was 9..lol...i told him eww

probably at the 4 year mark..right now we've been together 6 years!
and i realize it when i remember how many things we've been through...plus i was 19 when we first got together and now im 25

we have been dating for 5 1/2 years, and friends for almost 10.
I think it hits us when we think of things that used to happen before we were dating... like group trips to the mall, the movies, etc.
and its like 'wow, that was a really long time ago'
which means we have been together a long time!

at my brother's wedding i think
FH was there for my brother's previous two girlfriends, his engagement, wedding planning and finally the wedding
actually at all weddings, bc most of the time we have been together MUCH longer than the people getting married
also when i look at pictures of FH holding my niece when she was born, then my nephew .. . the list goes on lol

mine is the same! we just had my sisters sweet 16 and we did a slideshow for her with all pics of her growing up, and Fh remembers when she was little too! (she was 9)....and then she did a candle for the both of us and was saying how he is like an older brother, and how he could not imagine anyone better to marry me! (we both got so teary eyeed), but that def. did it!

also when people ask us how old we were when we started dating (he was 18 and i was 19)....and they say....aw, you two were still babies then! That makes me really realize cuz, 18 is actually really young!

thats exactly how i feel..i was 19 when we first got together, still in college with a crappy job...now im out of school working full time!

I think my FH and I had been dating for 3 years at the time and we were at his house outside and I was just watching him play football with his family and I just realized he was the one. I just got this feeling all of a sudden. We had spent the whole day together and he kept waving to me and smiling. It was really nice. I know I am corny...lol

wow thats crazy that we have the same story..its crazy that time goes by so fast...this yr i will be celebrating 9 yrs with my fh in april!!!

I think of FH's brother being 10 when we first started dating, and now he is 16 and he just got his junior license - that's one way I know we've been together for a while!

there are a lot of people on here who have had really long relationships! i used to get funny when i would find out that people were getting married/engaged after being together for much less time than FH and I (we will be together 71/2 when we get married)....but, heeelllooo...we were so young when we first started dating...and we were living 5 hours away (i was away at school, and he was here)....so it is good that we waited. Now we live together and we know everything about each other, the good the bad, the ugly, the pretty there will be no surprises! I am so happy that things turned out the way they did!

Yeah, when I began dating Ron his oldest nephew was going into 1st grade....now hes in Junior HS!!! It's been over 6 years.

we realized it after about 5 years...until then it never felt real...but for the past 4 years it has been MORE than real.
when we get married we'll have been together for 10 years!! that really makes me feel old!!!

Great topic. i guess with Zepp and I we have had a lot of time as friends which is what makes it special but seems surreal.
I was in Paris over chirstmas in 2005 and walking around and constantly thinking about Zepp and I didnt know why. It was really bothering me and I just kept wlaking knowing that i wanted to make things work and give us a second try. So when I got home from Paris I called him at like 130 in the morning so excited and thinking that he would be so happy to hgear from me. Instead he was sleeping and told me that he would call me in the morning. So he did call we went to the movies and ...we looked at each other and felt like we hadnt missed a beat. We really did keep in touch but to know that everything could fall back into place was when we looked at each other and were like 'holy cow we have known each other for 11 years' having history is so nice.
