When did you register?

When did you register?

I know I should have plenty of time still but I was wondering when everyone registered for baby? Also, if anyone has a good list of what you need that would be really helpful! What are the must-haves to put on the registry?

I registered right after I found out I was having a boy....so that was 5 months. I only registered at Babies R Us not at Buy Buy Baby. I really didn't know what to register for at first but when you go in the store they give you a list of things that you should get. However, when I got home...I looked for more things to add on the computer!

jolly jumper! diapers, diapers and more diapers, onesies, (changing table waste of space), LIGHTWEIGHT stroller, stroller with car seat (that was my favorite! What a blessing)

I also registered as sound as I found out I was having a girl. definitely register for a lot of diapers, wipes, bottles, all that stuff.

Sometimes they change the models or discontinue stuff and if you register too early, you might end up with some problems with availability. If you register early, just make sure you recheck the registry closer to your 7 months (or whenever they may be throwing your shower) so you know if the stuff is still current.

I agree with this. I started my registry at about 22-23 weeks - I waited until after my Level II sonogram when things seemed more safe and more real for me. I registered for the big stuff at first then added on as the weeks went on. But within 2 weeks my pack and play, swing and exersaucer were all discontinued (and a few other small items). BRU said they send you email notification but they did not. The website registry doesn't tell you either....it will say the items is discontinued or out of stock - so you don't know which is which...I had to go to the store to find out. One tip on BRU - if the price ends with .98 - then it is a item that is discontinued...not sure if that is everywhere but it was for me.

BRU gives you a nice checklist for things to register for. The things I love so far are my bassinet, boppy pillow, the Kick and Play bouncer seat, and of course the infant seat carrier and stroller (I did Graco metrolite). I didn't register for any clothes or diapers - for you don't know what size you will need. But I can tell you I have drawers full of clothes and a whole walk in closet full already and my baby is only 6 weeks old.
