when did you start dress shopping?

Im trying to drop a significant amount of weight before i start my dress shopping...but ive noticed that people have already bought their dresses for weddings after mine..its making me nervous! when should i start dress shopping? when should i place my order?

I ordered my dress in August for my Oct '06 wedding, for one reason, the designer released it in October of 2003, and I was afraid if I waited it would be discontinued. That happened to my sister, and although she got exactly the dress she wanted, the stress she endured for five days before we found out she could still get it is more than I wanted to go through.

i started a few weeks ago and my wedding is in october. the gown i happen to love takes 10 months to come in. so its never too early. if you drop weight, then they can take it in, and you will feel even better!

Relax, you have time. I was shopping this weekend and there was a bride looking for her dress for her February 2006 wedding. Everyone at the store seemed very calm about the whole thing. There was no stress.

that is very reassuring! ive made my decision, im going to start looking tomorrow...and get measured and order my gown in february..i know how picky i am so its going to take me a long time to find the one...im certain of that...i change my bridesmaids dresses on the hour!
