I started dress shopping in June. Depending on the salon and dress it can take up to 9 months to order one.

Go dress shopping whenever you want to. see what's out there. if your worried about weight (I am sure you're going to look fabulous trying on gowns) bring a girdle (I did, LOL).

Also keep in mind that wedding gowns run big in size and most sample dresses come in a size 10. I wear a 4-6 on top (I'm bottom heavy) and some 10's were almost perfect and most were pretty lose on me.

Just go and have fun!

Dresses can take 8-10 months to come in, so you do have time. I was also stressing over wanting to loose weight, and I was putting it off myself. I'm plus size, and was convinced no sample would fit, no gown would look right. On a whim, I tried one gown on, and I was addicted! It was so much fun!, I'm sad it's over!

You have time.. I just ordered mine and it will be in Feb.. So you have time.. I wanted to lose more weight before I went to.. but remember it is much easier to take in then let out..

Dont stress it.. you will be fine if you waited a couple of months..

I started and finished in March. It's to be in in the middle of December. so thats 9 months. I would definitely start soon. you can find your gown then when it comes time for the fitting, which isn't till close to the wedding, you'll have plenty of time to lose your weight. Like I said, mine is coming in december, but i'm not going for my first fitting till probably around march.

good luck

happy shopping

You've got time! They say up to 9 months to order and alter.

I haven't even gone shopping yet (same reason as yours) and my wedding is in April '06. I've called several shops and they said if I order by Nov. (no later) I should have no problem getting a dress. It all depends on the designer. Just start call some shops and see what they say their delivery time frame is for a particular dress you may like. Good luck!!! I'm 5 pounds lighter. Still have a long way to go, but it's a start.

Re: when did you start dress shopping?

I ordered my dress in May for my February wedding. It is not expected to come in until mid-November. Honestly, I dont want it any sooner than that. It makes me nervous to have it sitting in a bridal salon for months where it couldpossibly get mishandled or misplaces or even worse in my mother's home where someone could accidentally do something to it. The later the better IMO.

Eventually you'll hit a plateau, but keep up the good work, that's a great accomplishment. I wish I was that disciplined. I need to start working out, but I've been so lazy.

I've gained 50 pounds since we've been together. He gained 50 too but since he does manual labor now, he's lost it all.

I gotta start working out, I wish I had a partner. I even have a track by my house, but with 3 boys, a house, a full time job, I'm tired at the end of the day. I know, I know stop whinning!!!! Wish me luck!!! Good luck to ya!!!

Re: when did you start dress shopping?

I think you'll be fine if you order your dress in the next couple of months. Just a little advice about the rate of weight loss though: If you start to lose a little slower, I think it is much easier to maintain the weight loss. If you're only eating 18 pts per day, that is a difficult habit to maintain. I lost 30 lbs slowly, over 6-7 months, but I have kept it off for a year and a half. I know a lot of people that lose it fast end up gaining it back. You will want to shift gradually into a diet with eating habits that you can do long term. Hope this helps. This is just from my experience and from seeing my ILs, who tend to lose weight fast (many times) and then just put it back a few months later.
