When did you start to look and then book honeymoon
Around what time do you think is good? Better prices later or earlier? Thanks

Re: When did you start to look and then book honeymoon
I'm starting to look now, and I have a year. I want to definitely have it booked by at least 6 or 7 months prior. Prices can definitely be cheaper last-minute, but that's too chancy for me.

Re: When did you start to look and then book honeymoon
Also, if this info helps, I booked my Hawaii vacation for July in January on Expedia, and I kept checking how the prices were running for my package almost up to the week before my vacation, and it really didn't change that drastically except a few weeks before my vacation. Then it was a lot higher since it was last-minute. BUT hotels sometimes have package deals where it's cheaper last-minute.

Also, I want to let you know I see you're getting married in October. October is considered the low-season for most places in the Caribbean, so it's significantly cheaper than it would be from December to April, basically the winter. August and September is hurricane season, but I think it's fine in October. Unfortunately, even though I'm getting married in November, some hotels charge a little higher for that month than they would for October but it's much less than the winter months.

We were talking about it for a while, but because of extenuating circumstances we had to wait a little bit til we booked. We finally booked about a week and a half ago, with about 5 months left til the wedding. We are going on a Southern Caribbean Cruise, but because of the holidays that come up immediately after the wedding we are not leaving until 2 weeks later for our honeymoon. Works out cheaper that way anyway. We are both excited.

Re: When did you start to look and then book honeymoon
We had a short engagment, and we started talking about it in may, staarted looking at travel agencies in june & july... Got pisssed at travel agents cause they hype things up, and kept trying to talk us into going places we DID NOT want to go...
Started looking for things online, and ordering catalog broochures for different places in August and found www.vacationstogo.com !!! That was the last thing I needed... Found an EXCEPTIONALLY great deal on there, posted a question on here, had a respose from Dawn and Brian (cruise One).....
THEY BEAT the price I found online, then we booked with them... Two weeks before the wedding!!
Had a better time than we thought we would!! Everything was great!

We started thinking about where we wanted to go immediately. But did pricing and stuff in August and booked it in September. What a relief it was to have it completed. A huge weight had been lifted it felt like.

We booked our HM about 8 months before. I agree that there are last minute deals but that is a risky chance to take. If you book through a travel agant they will be able to monitor cheap fares for you and let you know if the airfare that day is dirt cheap. Also booking it ahead of time gives you a chance to pay it little by little. Travel agents don't require the full payment till a month before your date of departure.
