When did you tell work?

I'm 10 weeks today (and I'm home today due to severe m/s last night that knocked me out ). I don't know when to tell work and it's starting to get me very anxious. I started working at this law firm about 8 months ago, and they just went through layoffs, and instead of laying me off (which would be the logical choice because I was the most recent new hire), they laid off the guy they hired before me, so I'm feeling so much pressure to perform well, and I'm SOOO nervous now to tell them I'm pregnant. How long should I wait? 12 weeks? I'm not really showing at all yet. What to do???

Re: When did you tell work?

I told at 13 weeks only because I travel and they would need to make arrangements for that. I also had bad m/s and just dealt with it at work (which wasn't always easy)

Don't feel guilty about not getting laid off. Tell when you are comfortable.

Re: When did you tell work?

I haven't told mine yet and I'm 14 weeks today!! BUT... I will tell you that there is nothing that they can do...

Personally, I would wait until 12 weeks or so...

Re: When did you tell work?

I waited until 15 weks b/c I had just been given a promotion and was very nervous about their reaction. In hindsight, I had nothing to worry about, and I'm sure you don't either. Its a part of life and to be honest, my boss wasn't shocked - he knew we wanted a fmily and figured it was just a matter of time anyways. You might be pleasantly surprised at their reaction. But I would wait until the 12 or 13 week mark just so youre 'out of the clear' so to speak.

Re: When did you tell work?

I had to tell my immediate boss sort of right away, because I was working at Hazardous Waste sites and didn't want to be working in the field while pregnant. So he did some reassigning and all was well. I told my section head at about 3 months!

Re: When did you tell work?

I told me boss at 6 weeks, because I was away on convention in Las Vegas with like 1000 other employess from my company for a week. I had sever ms and didn't want him to think I was antisocial or wasn't sharing a drink to be snooty. And G-d forbid anything happened. I had to have one person know being so far from home and so sick. He was so cool!

Re: When did you tell work?

I told my principal at 3 months before Christmas break. I'm glad that I did because after I came back from vacation you could definately see 'something'.
