how early can i block hotel rooms?
am i supposed to send that info with the save the dates? or just include it in the invitations?

i was told by a hotel to do it 1 year before....esp if u have a popular date like in the summer or something. You're date in Feb probably won't book up as fast, but i would still do it soon!

How much do you usually have to leave down for the rooms? Or do you not have to leave any deposit?

You are right around the one year mark. I would check out the hotels now and block them.

If you haven't sent out your STD yet, then I would include this with it.

I only did it a few (maybe 4 or 5) months before...but to be safe why not. You can usually do it all over the phone and then have them mail you a contract

Also, I had several choices of hotels so I went with the one that didnt hold me responsible for paying for any rooms that were not booked...I didnt have that many OOt guests so I didnt want to have to foot the bill if all the rooms were nt booked HTH

I blocked mine 14 months in advance, and they were completely booked up a year from my date. Out east where we are there are only 2 hotels so that's why.

We don't have to pay anything to block rooms, even if they arn't filled.

I would do it ASAP, why scramble around later? Also I blocked at the Holiday Inn Express in Lynbrook and the guy told me I was the first bride to block for my wedding date (I did it a year in advance) which means he could give me the lowest rate. Not sure if all hotels do that though.

I sent the hotel info with the save the dates.

i did it right away so i could include the info in the STD esp for the wedding party and immed family to have them at the hotel attached to RH, we need a second hotel for all the OOT guests
